That Portable weather clock started out as just a Sense Hat, Pi A+ and DS3231 RTC. First issue was the temps read high from heat inside my case. Wired up a BMP180 I had kicking around externally to fix that. Then I think I added the Si1145 light sensor. Then the secondary temp display with the 10mm LEDs. I couple of Proto Hats got added in the process to connect the above addons. Then I swapped out the BMP180 for the BME690. And lastly (for now, lol) I swapped out the 10mm LEDs for the LED Shim. I've lost track of how many code changes I did lol. Many many edits to change the way it worked and how messages were shown. That's been one of, if not the, most enjoyable project so far. The most rewarding for sure. It sees the most use out of all my projects. A close second would be my bread board rig.

I think I'm going to repurpose the proto board with the 10mm LED's for use with my Micro-Bit. I'll swap out the male headers for females so I can use male to male jumper wires to plug it into a solderless bread board. I have some that came with my Explorer pHats. I'll just trim them down to size. Might as well use it for something.

Hmm, I don't know, your still mounting a board to the back of the display? Not really saving any space. Easier access to the Pi I guess?

Hey Jack, meant to mention this earlier, save the screws from those laptops your disassembling. And check to see if they screw into the Pi Standoffs from Adafruit and Pimoroni. Long ones that fit those standoffs are hard to find. I got a bunch from I think it was an HP laptop that have come in really handy. The wall of my portable weather clock case is on the thick side and those stock screws only just reach. It would be real easy to strip them if I over tightened. The long ones I got out of the dead laptop work great for this type of stuff. I've used them with my diffuser too. I put a couple of the nuts on for spacers and still have lots of thread left to screw into the standoff.

Haven't been doing much Pi related stuff lately. Just way to hot and sticky. I've been tweaking my code on my portable weather clock a little first thing in the morning. Changed some colors around, swapped orange and red for the temp display. 26c to 29c is orange and above 29c is red. Basically red if 30 and above. Dimmed the Ledshim a bit more too, was a little too bright in a dark room.
I'm out on my deck under my gazebo. It's in the shade until about noon. I have a small fan on my table so it not too bad. Just hit 26c. I'll probably stay out here for another hour or so.

I mowed the grass here a couple of mornings ago. Did it right after our morning walk at 7:30 AM. I was beat by the time I was done. The trimming etc will have to wait for another day. Propane tank just ran dry on my barbeque so next move is to go get refill. I'll do a tank swap for a full one on my way home from the dog park. We haven't gone in a few days now, just to hot. It's still not ideal but there is a breeze and its overcast. I'll take some cold water and a water bowl with me and we have shade so she may actually enjoy it a little bit. I'm kind of wishing it would rain to be honest, and cool things off.

Greetings folks, I was recommended to come here by a fellow user. I'm a replica prop builder and have been building fallout inspired props for about 4 years. I have been planning and sourcing parts to build a replica Fallout terminal based around a raspberry pi 3B+. My plan is to have it run like the terminals in fallout 4 with a few upgrades, i.e. ASCII web browsing, music player with 40's and 50's tracks, the mini games found on holotapes like atomic command, grognak etc and a few other bonus's. I originally started building the mini games in 'Scratch', but found that I couldn't really do much with the final game. ideally I'd probably want to have the games built in html5, but I'm open to suggestions.

this is the sort of thing I'm talking about (runs best on firefox)

    phosphorus

    Cheers.
