After uninstalling Audacity again and after/while removing ca. 25 Audacity elements in the Registry (i.e., no other user inputs) froze again

Somehow this happened before (the preceding freeze I guess, not this last one):

0x117 is a succesful TDR, although it sometimes still results in a BSOD.

Could you boot into safe mode for some time just to see if any problem occurs.

OK, Safe Mode a bit more complicated to get into with Settings than with Win7, but easy w/instructions. Used f4 and for ca. 5+ min. ran a few built-ins like WordPad, etc. no prob. (sound driver not functioning as often with manual start after "not-normal" shutdown after freeze). Then left Firefox (unconnected to Internet) on and left machine undisturbed for almost 20 min. No prob, could turn Firefox off and shutdown with no freeze.

Tried again with f5 to try Internet, but Mobile Partner would not start as I'd guessed (app). Let run that way for a few mins, made normal shutdown, manual start this time with enabled sound driver.

only these errors after 2nd try (note: freeze even with Audacity uninstalled and ALL elements in Registry removed!, now re-installed w/all components via System Restore) >

was testing: clock stopped at 12:03, so assume that was when freeze occurred

nothing else seems to have happened just before 12:03

Was that with any safe mode options or in normal mode?

Normal. Now I tested again, freeze, clock locked at 12:15

    nothing special in apps, but

note; small now out-of-business store forgot to put me as admin in WinX Pro, he had to remove WinX and somehow re-install w/ me as admin (he chased me off while he did this and I have no idea what he did, nor did I find out till much later that the receipt he gave me had nothing to do with Windows 10 Pro, even though I insisted I wanted a legal copy and when I checked at home apparently Windows accepts it as legal)> could this be source of the freezing problem? ... further note: at first was no freezing for a month from whatever he installed until v1703 was then installed and also possibly related to me messing with Registry to get Spotlight to work at about the same time-frame

this last test was after I just now found out how to disable Spotlight and cloud search through Group Policy (obviously still froze and don't want/use Spotlight anyway) >

Please run memtest86+ according to the instructions.
Remember, note down the results using pen and paper.

    Diagnostic Test

     RAM TEST

Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Forums

    Note   Note

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 complete passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

    Addition:
If errors show up you can stop the test, remove all sticks but 1 and test this single stick in each slot for 8 passes or until errors show, switch sticks and repeat.
If errors show up and you see them a lot later, no problem, the errors don't affect the test.

OK. but before seeing above post I found VSS in this state >
    Attachment 161640

    now changed to this >
    Attachment 161642

since I have already run TWO memory tests (HP plus another) with good results, I will now test if the VSS change does anything, and of not, will test again changing parameter to "automatic (delayed start)"

if those don't work, will then do mem86 test
