See if there is any performance problems (hangs/freezing/crashes etc.) with hardware stress testing:

    1) download and install the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool

It should take less than 20 minutes to complete.
It has a feature to automatically abort should there be any temperature problems.
It will display pass or fail when it has completed testing.

When the test completes please use the Microsoft snipping tool to post an image into the thread.

    Download Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool:

    The Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool:

    2) Run FurMark - GPU Stress Test Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials

Please make note of the importance of temperature monitoring and aborting the test in the GPU link.

All of these test should be done with the bios reset and no over clocking.

For Furmark testing please record maximum temperatures and testing duration.

Aim for 45 - 60 minutes of testing and abort as needed for problems with temperature, freezing, display artifacts, etc.

And please make sure that you use the Microsoft snipping tool to post images of each into the thread.

I'll do this tomorrow, it's too late here now do be running benchmarks. Thanks for the suggestions.

Conclusion of CPU + GPU stess testing

Okay, I've run both the IPDT and FurMark. No crashes at all, IPDT passed with no issues and stayed 63°C away from max. GPU temperature peaked at 71°C but remained at 70°C for almost the whole test (which I ran for over an hour). Does this pretty much eliminate both CPU and GPU from the troubleshooting or is it still possible that there's an underlying fault with either pieces of hardware?

To give a bit of background, I returned my old revision Corsair model CX750M PSU because I suspected it was potentially causing the issue, but after having the newer revision of the same model installed in my system for a few months now, it's apparent that this did nothing to solve the problem. Likewise, a couple of days before starting this thread I replaced my motherboard from an ASUS X99-S to a more up to date ASUS Strix X99 Gaming mobo and the problem persists.

As for the crashes in question, am I right in thinking that they seem to occur when the system is using a lot of power (games that utilise both CPU and GPU resources heavily)? And should I consider looking more closely at the way I power the system (currently using a surge protected 6 gang power bar plugged into the wall)? Surely a 750W PSU is providing more than sufficient headroom for my system specs...

Which hardware tests were done with the old and which ones were done with the new motherboard?
The IPDT and FurMark were just done with the new MB.
How about the Memtest86+ version 5.01?

There may be some testing that was previously done but not yet posted into the thread. If you have test results please post them inito the thread.

For the CPU the IPDT and Prime95 have different methods.
Please test the CPU using Prime95.

    When viewing the bios:
What are the BIOS 3.3, 5 and 12 voltage values?

What are the CPU voltage and frequency?

I did run a couple of passes of Memtest86+ before I started this thread to see if there were any immediate problems with memory, I could run an overnight stress test on the memory though if you deem it necessary. I ran numerous benchmarks/stress tests on the old mobo, but didn't keep anything logged as I was troubleshooting alone at that stage.

I'll run Prime95 now, but I do recall people stating Prime95 as unsafe for stress testing not so long ago...

P.S. I'm used to using RealTempGT to record CPU temps, is this okay for recording temps while running Prime95?

The prime95 we use as a tool regularly for WHEA 0x124 and evaluating CPU,
    The testing can run indefinitely.
The monitoring and aborting as needed are important.
    Please see the link.
Any temperature monitoring software that you are comfortable with will work as long as you have found it comprehensive and reliable.
The temperature monitoring software that we suggest are:

Speccy - Free Download - Piriform: Speccy - System Information - Free Download

HWMONITOR | Softwares | CPUID: HWMONITOR | Softwares | CPUID

SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer: SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer

For memtest86+ version 5.01 please run 8 or more passes.
The testing is not done by time but by passes.
The more passes the better as it sometimes takes passes in the 20's to find malfunctioning RAM.
Just 1 error is fail and you can abort testing.
Then test 1 RAM module at a time in the same DIMM for 8 or more passes.

The testing can be started in the evening and ran overnight and the next day until it has completed 8 or more passes.

When Memtest86+ has completed 8 or more passes use a camera or smart phone camera to take a picture and post an image into the thread.

I'm running the stress test now, I'll leave it running for about an hour. Then I'll screenshot the results and go into the bios to take some shots of the different voltage values, along with CPU + RAM frequencies.

I've had the test running for about 15 minutes so far, and the hottest core of 6 is going between 66-67°C, the coolest core around 60°C (I probably made a less tidy job of applying paste evenly than I could have, lol). It's looking like unless it runs into a processing error, the temps aren't going to budge from this state.

I ran Prime95 for nearly 1 hour 30 minutes, and the temps seemed to have finally reached their peak. No errors reported, attached screenshots of temps. I also got shots from the BIOS displaying all the different voltages, but it's still not clear to me what the 12/5/3.3V values refer to.

I'll run Memtest86+ overnight and depending on how many passes it manages in that time I'll get back to you with results for that in the morning maybe, if not I'll leave it running while I'm out during the day since I'll be busy anyway.

    Thanks so far.
