BSOD WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR whilst playing a few games

    Hi,

During certain games I've been getting BSOD. It can happy at any point during these 4 games where the game freezes then windows crashes and displays WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE ERROR.

The games are: Grand theft auto V, battlefield 1, Total war: Warhammer and Arma 3 (rarely)

I've done a few fixes such as re-downloaded NVidia, reset PC to original settings and so on so fourth. Tried turning off over-clocks in my PC and so on.

Talked with Microsoft support and it may be a 3rd party driver on my PC?

Any help preventing this crashes would really be appreciated. I've attached a file with my system information.

    Thanks

These type of hardware errors can be quite difficult to solve. The usual procedure is to test all the hardware in a systematic way. If there are no issues detected then we begin to suspect a driver might be triggering it. Work through the following and report back on each item.

    STOP 0x124 Troubleshooting

    Read carefully before proceeding.

    warning   Warning
If you're overclocking your system, revert back to stock clocks now.

    Note   Note
Test the system once the overclock is removed before continuing with the steps outlined below.

    Part One: CPU Stress Test
    Part Two: MemTest86+ RAM Diagnostic
    Part Three: Hard Drive Diagnostics
    Part Four: GPU Stress Test

    ONE

     CPU TEST

Run Prime95 to stress test your CPU. Prime95 - Stress Test Your CPU - Windows 10 Forums

    warning   Warning
Your CPU temperatures will rise quickly while under this stress test. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if overheating occurs.

    TWO

     RAM TEST

Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Forums

    Note   Note

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

    THREE

     HDD TEST

    Run HDTune to
    • check the health,
    • scan for errors, no quick scan but full scan
    • run a benchmark.

It may take some time, but please take the time you need to perform it properly.
When above is done please make screenshots of the following
    • the health,
    • the error scan,
    • the benchmark incl. following
      • transfer rate,
      • access time,
      • burst rate,
      • cpu usage.

    FOUR

     GPU TEST

Run Furmark to stress test your GPU. FurMark - GPU Stress Test - Windows 10 Forums

    Note   Note
Run Furmark for around 30 minutes.
    warning   Warning
Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if overheating occurs.

In June there were problems with the Nvidia graphics in the event log. There have been no reported problems noted in the event log since that time. Since June had you updated the driver or made any changes to the GPU hardware?

I changed graphic cards but that was last year. Apart from that there's been no changes. The issue started happening well after that.

Thanks for your replies etc. I will go through the list of tests however yesterday I removed all drivers on my PC and installed them 1 by 1. The issue seems to have become completely less common now and only has happened once in the last 24 hours (which I can live with).

if it persists I will try the stress testing.

    Thank you!

These are the 3 problematic events displayed in the event logs for Nvidia graphics in June, 2017.

Reinstalling drivers reduced the problem but there are still bsod.

All drivers are not uninstalled and reinstalled using only one method.
Some drivers need a special way to uninstall and install.

For the above tests on CPU, GPU, drives, and RAM some can be run overnight and others require participation to monitor temperatures or display artifacts.

The HD Tune error scan can be run overnight. Then in the AM you can make an image and post the results into the thread.

The Memtest86+ version 5.01 testing can be started in the late afternoon and run overnight.
Memtest86+ version 5.01 is not run by time but by passes.
It takes 8 or more passes for proper testing.
Fewer than 8 passes has a significant number of false negatives.
A false negative is a test result that is a pass when there is malfunctioning RAM.
The computer has 16 GB RAM.
    Memtest86+ version 5.01 takes approximately 1 -2 hours / GB RAM.
Just 1 error is a fail and you can abort testing.
Then test 1 RAM module at a time in the same DIMM for 8 or more passes to determine which RAM module is malfunctioning.

After the next bsod please post a new zip.

The WHEA error summary indicate a problem with the CPU:

    Code:
    GenuineIntel_PROCESSOR_MAE - Micro-Architectural Error - Internal timer (Proc 4 Bank 4)
    GenuineIntel_PROCESSOR_MAE - Micro-Architectural Error - Internal timer (Proc 6 Bank 4)
    GenuineIntel_PROCESSOR_MAE - Micro-Architectural Error - Internal timer (Proc 1 Bank 4)
    GenuineIntel_PROCESSOR_MAE - Micro-Architectural Error - Internal timer (Proc 0 Bank 4)
    memory_corruption - Micro-Architectural Error - Internal timer (Proc 5 Bank 4)

    • post #6 "I can say for sure that the two WHEA errors report architectural failures (both pointing to internal timer) in your CPU which are pretty certainly CPU problems."
    • post #9 "... the WHEA errors report internal CPU timer faults. Drivers and all really can't pull a fast one on these types of errors, so they're pretty legit in what they say. Whether it's a CPU that went bad altogether or some underlying problem like OCing, temp or voltage, it's still a hardware issue that's affecting the CPU's timing mechanism.

Make sure that there is no over clocking during any of the tests.

Please update the computer specs in the "My Computer" section:

When you run each test please record test duration and maximum temperature.
    Prime95 can run indefinitely.
The longer the duration the better the test.
Attempt to run for 3 or more hours if possible.
See the links for monitoring and about aborting the tests.

Furmark attempt to run for 45 minutes to an hour.

The above tests require user interaction with temperature and display artifact monitoring.

There is an additional test to check the CPU.
This test should take less than 15 minutes.
It will display pass or fail and create a log.

Download and install the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool

When the test completes please use the Microsoft snipping tool to post an image into the thread.
