Browser Opening Myriad Tabs/Windows To Help Screen Till Computer Crash

A few days ago my computer started opening myriad tabs in Edge, or Windows in IE explorer till the computer ran out of resources. They all pointed to the Microsoft help screen. I ran Microsoft's virus scan, Emsisoft's emergency kit scanner, and MBAM scanner. All said clean. I reverted the computer back several days, and then refreshed the computer (new install). I changed mice, and then plugged the mouse into a new port. I changed the size of the browser, closed it, then reopened. I turned off superfetch. I downloaded Chrome and made it my default. This helped a bit, as it would only open one window to the Chrome help site, then stop. However, if I opened file browser even Chrome would sometimes open endless tabs to the Microsoft file help site till it crashed. I ran SFC/scannow and DISM /online /cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth from an elevated command prompt, they said okay. I hope I uploaded the zip file properly, my first time doing this. Also, I bought my computer new from Dell several years ago, so its not a refurbished glitch coming back.

    Hi learner10 ,

Welcome to the Ten Forums BSOD forum.

Please clarify the method used to install windows:
    a) Clean install (delete partitions, format, make unallocated drive, install windows 10 version 1703 using a bootable windows 10 iso)?
    b) Reset with remove files
    c) reset with save files
    d) restore
    etc.

There were 2 misbehaving drivers identified.
There were no mini dumps so that needs to be checked.

    Perform the following steps:
    1) open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    2) sfc /scannow
    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    4) chkdsk /scan
    5) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread
    6) Open the Dell website > enter serial or product number and operating system > view drivers

    7) Post a link into the thread for webpage to view drivers for the computers configuration and operating system.
    8) Find replacement drivers for:
k57nd60a.sys (Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet)
    igdkmd64.sys (Intel(R) HD Graphics)
    9) Update these drivers using this method:Updating a driver: Updating a driver. - Microsoft Community

I used reset and save files. Chkdsk, SFC, and DISM all said okay. I will slowly go through the rest of your checklist.

Thanks Ken. I sent for a new keyboard.

When viewing the threads they constructed the website so that multiple viewers could click on "My Computer".
This will allow viewers to stay on the current post rather that have to go back to the beginning and read each post to find the computer specifications.

Please update the 'My Computer" section so that others can view the computer specs:

In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.
After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.

For all tests please post images and results into the thread.
Again this will make it easier for multiple viewers.

After the 2 misbehaving drivers are replaced plan to use a tool to test all of the non-Microsoft drivers.

These links are to learn about bsod and windows driver verifier.
Let us know your progress with the drivers and the links.
Additional information will be posted after you have installed the drivers so that you understand how to use windows driver verifier.

The problem is solved. It was a hardware problem, not software. The F1 key on my keyboard was intermittently shorting out. Once I cleaned my keyboard, everything started working normally. I want to thank zbook and Ken for their help.
