There were problems on the image.
You can try transferring the image again and then another chkdsk /x /f /r.
If that produces an unspecified error then you may need a drive enclosure to move the files.

Was there ever a HD involved in making images?

No, I just did a backup from my SSD with Todo Backup to a hard drive. This Windows install was originally on a hard drive. I transferred it to my SSD two years ago, and since then it has just been installed on the one SSD.

So you had a HD from which you made an image to a SSD?

Then you made an image from the SSD to another SSD?

So the same image has moved from HD to SSD over time?

I had a hard drive which I cloned to a SSD, two years ago. Since then I've just used that one SSD.

Please clarify: did you make a clone or an image?

Two years ago, I did a clone. Right now I'm using an image I made a few days ago.

That is likely what explains the CRC drive problem.
There likely was a problem on the HD and by making a clone that made the error on the SSD drive.
Then you made an image of the SSD drive which moved the CRC problem to the next SSD.

The SSD drive would have to be reset for the CRC to be useful again.

I'm restoring the backup image to the same SSD.

Is there no way to fix the SSD without reseting it?

Apparently HD sentinel has a method but it has a cost.
