    Frequent BSODs, UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION

Ive been suffering from BSODs very frequently lately, up to 2-3 times a day. Its making life miserable. It would usually happen while I was away from the laptop or sometime when I would wake it up from sleep or hibernation, but now its even happening while I am using the computer. I cant pinpoint any specific task that's causing It, from my perspective it seems pretty random. I recently disabled the "restart upon crash" or whatever that setting is so that I could see the stop code. Today was the first time I was able to see a stop code error, it read "UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION". I cant guarantee this has always been the stop code for all of my BSODs but at least its a start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi fuz111,

In the zip file there were no bsod mini dump files.
There were approximately 15 crashes in the event log.
    1) If you are using Ccleaner please click on the windows tab > scroll to system > un-check memory dumps
There were many problems with the drive including bad blocks and possible corruption.

    2) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    3) sfc /scannow
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    5)
When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread
    6) run one of these SMART tests on your drives:

    a) CrystalDiskInfo - Software - Crystal Dew World:
Download Center - Crystal Dew World
CrystalDiskMark - Software - Crystal Dew World
    Software - Crystal Dew World

    b) HD Tune: http://www.hdtune.com/

    c) Hard Disk Sentinel - HDD health and temperature monitoring: Hard Disk Sentinel - HDD health and temperature monitoring

When the SMART test has completed open the Microsoft snipping tool and make images of the results to post into the thread.
Take Screenshot in Windows 10 Windows 10 General Tips Tutorials

    Check the health,
scan for errors, no quick scan but full scan
    run a benchmark.

It may take some time, but please take the time you need to perform it properly.
When above is done please make screenshots of the following
    the health,
    the error scan,
    the benchmark incl. following
    transfer rate,
    access time,
    burst rate,
    cpu usage.

    7) Run Sea tools for windows on your drive using SMART, short and long generic tests:

    http://www.seagate.com/support/downl...ls-win-master/
How to use SeaTools for Windows
    http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/seatools/

    8) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    chkdsk /x /f /r
This may take many hours to run so plan to run overnight.
Post the results into the thread:
Read Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer in Windows 10 Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials

    9) What is the name of the Dell monitoring software on the computer? Please view all Dell software in control panel and post the information into the thread.

    10) What is the history of malware on the computer?

    11) download and install whocrashed:
    http://www.resplendence.com/whocrashed
    12) In the left upper corned click analyze > post the results into the thread
    13) above analyze click on tools > crash dump test > type: ACCEPT > post the results into the thread
    14) The system settings need to be modified to not automatically restart so that you have ample time to view the bsod window. Follow the settings in this link: BSOD Finding and fixing them - Microsoft Community
    15) system > system control panel > advanced system settings > set startup and recovery settings > automatic memory dump
    16) post an image of the startup and recovery settings into the thread.

    Hello fuz111,

    Welcome to TenForums :)

The response from @zbook might seem a bit daunting so I wanted to clarify what is happening.

Firstly, there are no crash dump files but this is more likely because they were not recorded. Please check you have the settings correct for BSOD file capture: use Configure Windows 10 to Create Minidump on BSOD

Then the error you saw "Unexpected Store Exception" immediately gives a clue that there could be problems with your disk drive. This is why @zbook has focussed on all the HDD tests in items 6,7 & 8.

We will wait for further results.

Thank you zbook and thanks for the clarification philc43. Ill recheck my settings for BSOD file capture. The possibility of a harddrive issue makes me alittle nervous :/

    I am not using CCleaner.
Here are the results from sfc /scannow and dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

We had had 1 thread in the past few months that had a similar problem where the 3 software that we regularly use had problems detecting the drive.

The Dell laptop: msinfo32 is displaying: Intel Chipset SATA RAID Controller

    Resources & Utilities | FAQs | Samsung V-NAND SSD
The Samsung Magician can only read Samsung SSD that are retail (not OEM)
If the SSD is connected to a RAID/SCSI storage device controller, the program may fail to detect the SSD properly.

No disks...CrystalDiskInfo supports only IDE (Parallel ATA) and Serial ATA disks connected internal ATA controller (Chipset included).CrystalDiskInfo supports a part of USB-HDD.CrystalDiskInfo does not support RAID disks and IDE (Parallel ATA) and Serial ATA disks connected external ATA controller.SAMSUNG HD155UI/HD204UI is not shown...SAMSUNG HD155UI/HD204UI has data loss bug. CrystalDiskInfo does not access these disks by default.

SeaTools may not detect individual drives attached to RAID controllers

So far I have not found a webpage from Dell, Samsung, HD tune, Crystal Disk etc. that specifically names the Dell Samsung drive: Model PM951 NVMe SAMSUNG as a SSD that cannot have drive testing.

    1) Try HD Sentinel Hard Disk Sentinel - HDD health and temperature monitoring
    2) Try Seatools: http://www.seagate.com/support/downl...ls-win-master/
    3) Try ATTO: Disk Benchmark Software | ATTO
This ATTO software indicates that it can test software with RAID controllers so it should be able to read the Samsung SSD drive:
    Disk Benchmark Software | ATTO
It requires a registration before use.

If you can submit a chat or email support ticket to any of the manufacturers Dell, Samsung etc that feedback would be useful.

    Thanks
    HD Sentinel was blank
Tried Samsung Magician, didnt recognize drive.
I was able to get Seatools to recognize the drive and perform tests. Here is the log file for both of them

Do you still want me to try ATTO?

With the 3 software tools HD tune, HD sentenial, and Crystal Disk there are visual error scans, and data parameters. These are useful for following trends. So if you have any problems 6 months or a year from now you have something to compare. In contrast the Seatools gives a pass or fail and you were not able to run SMART.

So if you can try ATTO that should be able to check benchmarks and if there are other scan capabilities please run them.
We would like to end up with SMART testing results and an error scan if that is possible with the raid controller.

Please post images of the results into the thread.

Thanks I ran ATTO, Ive attached a screengrab.
I chatted with samsung, they said I had to call them instead, called them and they were closed. Also chatted with Dell, here is the transcript:

6:52:30 PM System You are now being connected to an agent. Thank you for using Dell Chat
6:52:30 PM System Connected with _HYDMohammed_230865
    6:52:33 PM Fazal hello
6:52:40 PM _HYDMohammed_230865 Welcome to Dell Technical Chat Support. My name is Mohammed Johnny and my Rep ID is 230865. How may I help you today?
6:52:45 PM Fazal my dell laptop came with a samsung ssd hdd
6:53:02 PM Fazal i would like to run a smart test on it but it seems most software will not run tests on it including samsung magic
6:53:14 PM Fazal which software can i use to run a SMART test on it
    6:53:51 PM _HYDMohammed_230865 Hello Fazal
6:54:08 PM _HYDMohammed_230865 To check the system and the drive, you can simply run diagnostics from the F12 menu.
6:54:58 PM Fazal is a SMART test an option?
6:55:07 PM _HYDMohammed_230865 We prefer that as it run diagnostics on all the hardware outside the windows operating system.
6:56:32 PM _HYDMohammed_230865 it is not an option because this is not a normal hard drive (with sectors on it) it is an SSD which does not have sectors in it (as on a conventional hard drive)
6:56:56 PM Fazal ok so is there any way to perform a smart test?
6:58:16 PM _HYDMohammed_230865 Not exactly, it is just the standard hard drive diagnostics.
6:59:39 PM Fazal I read that some SSDs do support SMART testing though, how can I find out if mine does? And what other HDD diagnostics can I use then instead?
7:02:38 PM _HYDMohammed_230865 Fazal the only diagnostics that we can recommend is the one we have from Dell, the F12 diagnostics and the Dell Support Assist diagnostics. And this SSD does not support SMART testing and hence it is not available.

Philc43, I read through the link you gave me and I checked my BSOD file capture settings, it was set to small memory dump, I changed it to active memory dump, is that what you recommend?

The RAID controller is likely blocking the SMART testing.
This link has multiple drive testing software(some appear to be only for HD):
14 Free Hard Drive Testing Tools (August 2017)
At your convenience see if any of them can perform error testing on the SSD drive.
