ok that sounds good so far
ok that sounds good so far
ok ive done the following
said i dont have a key
selected windows 10 home
now im at upgrade or custom. The part about partitions is particulary confusing, how shall I go about this?
delete all partitions
then format the drive
you have then made an unallocated drive
then install windows
ok i deleted all my partitions, and have a new one with 930 GB(my hard drive space)
But theres now one called unallocated space which is 500 MB, and i cant delete it.
Is that normal? DO i format that to?
what size is the drive?
all partitions should be deleted
the whole drive should be formatted
that makes the whole drive unallocated
ok
my first scenario leads me with something called drive zero, unallocated unallocated space, 935 GB
now....i cant format it...so what I had to do was
1. click new...create a new partition with 935 GB space, but now a drive zero with 500 MB space appears
2. I can delete it the 500 MB thing and it now says drive zero unallocated space 500 MB
3. I can now format my drive zero parition one with 935 GB space.
EDIT: When i click new, it tell me it may create additional partitions for system files, is that 500 MB just that, and need to be formatted etc?
So should I go with the unallocated 500 MB and the formatted 935 partition? The 500 MB unallocated still on screen, but i was able to delete it so it says unallocated space
Once the drive is clean (no partitions and formatted) you then install windows
During the installation of windows it will create partitions
total size of the drive = free space when the drive is unallocated
ok..ill try again, clearly I miscommunicated...so I will start at square one...explain each step and its results thereof...its 2 am, tired lol
Ok...
1. I am at my partition screen, after deleting everything I have currently
drive zero unallocated space: 935 GB, But I cant format it as you said to. The only way to allow a format is to
click new at bottom right
it shows my HD space as max, click ok. It informs me that it may create a new pardition for system files.
i click ok
i now have
drive zero Pardition 1: System reserved, 500 MB
drive zero pardition 2: 935 gb and this one CAN be formatted, in fact both can.
Any ideas whats the right way?
It's unclear what you are seeing.
I'll perform a clean install now to see if I can duplicate what you are seeing.
set up is starting
accept license
custom install windows (advanced)
where do you want to install windows
drives and partitions are seen with total size, free space and type
the blue highlight can be placed over any drive or partition and then click no delete
before deletion the types are recovery, system, MSR (reserve), Primary
ugh im sorry..real tired, need sleep bad. I wasnt aware the partition problems would be so...hmm...clingy?
actually..tell me how i can make this understandable to your situation? Because i believed my previous post to be clear...was it confusing?
i have no system, recovery, primary right now
