When a freeze does not result in a BSOD there is nothing saved that we can analyse. The whole system just stops what it was doing and often files get corrupted especially if the system was in the middle of a disk write action. Some things that you are advised to do when restarting from a freeze and re-boot is to start in safe mode and run a full disk scan with repair. I think zbook has had you do this in previous posts so you should know the procedure by now.

The fact that safe mode worked well for you tends to imply that the hardware is basically OK. I would start with a clean boot process as the next troubleshooting step to determine which non-Microsoft startup programs or services are causing your system to freeze. If you are not familiar with this check out and follow this tutorial.

I am unfamiliar with this way of accessing the PC after a crash, the only issue I see with it is it relies on me being able to sign in and restart into safe mode.

I will test out safe mode tonight, hopefully getting 3-5 hours worth of usage and different boots to see if its stable. I believe I turned off most Non MS stuff but will make sure they are all of if we move onto that.

Thanks for all your help guys, really appreciated.

The trick is to boot from a recovery drive and select Advanced Startup Options to start in Safe mode

Perfect, safe mode seems stable again, worth testing more or just to move on?

Please have a look at the Clean boot process tutorial which I recommended in post #121. It takes time but should allow you to pinpoint the cause.

    Good

Yes if you even have just one startup item selected then the load startup items check box is reactivated. However only those items selected will actually startup not the whole lot.

Thats the thing all non MS services and all startup options are disabled, however I am now using the computer for the 2nd time since doing this (both with 1-2 hours of usage with no issues). The only thing I disabled was razer synapse, so we may have found a cause!

That's great news but remember that you sometimes went for days with no problem. However if you get crashes as soon as you turn the razer back on then it does look conclusive.

Yeah but in the last few it really stepped up to where I wouldnt be able to use it for more than 30 mins or so, been on all day again with no issue so far.

I'll leave it off over the weekend, then turn back on to test if that then crashes it. If it is the sole cause is there any workaround for it, or is it just a case of ill have to live without it?

I can't believe I missed it I thought all of that was turned off.

Thanks for all the help its greatly appreciated!
