    BSOD/freeze after exactly 11min 15sec uptime everytime

BSOD/freeze after exactly 11min 15sec uptime every time.

This has been going on for some time while I've been trialing and erroring. Computer locks up exactly 11m 15s after power on (BIOS set to boot with power on). That's 11m 10s after POST beep or about 10m 55s after desktop first appears.

It happens in various safe modes but not when booting from a flash drive, eg, for anti-virus offline scan or Windows ISO repair, etc.

When it locks up the mouse initially keeps moving. My task bar is autohidden and that can still be popped up but clicking Start won't bring up the menu. If monitoring Resource Monitor the disk "highest active time" blue line shoots straight up to 100% and stays there. After a few seconds the system is completely unresponsive and eventually will go to BSOD or I'll just hard restart before that.

Happy to answer any questions but must post now before it locks up again. ;o)

Here's stuff I saaw asked for in another thread.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Pogle,

    Welcome to the 10forums :)

    What BSOD error shows up?

Please fill in your system specs
Please follow this tutorial and download the tool. The tool will give you detailed information about your system specs, please fill in your system specs more completely including PSU, cooling and other used stuff like mouse, keyboard, monitor, case, etc.
The PSU, cooling and other stuff are NOT mentioned in the tool.

In the zip there were no bsod minidump files.
    1) List the hardware that is attached to your computer
    2) If there is an Epsom printer please disconnect it and uninstall the Epsom software using control panel and device manager
    3) check the performance of the computer after the disconnection of the Epson products and removal of the software.
    4) if performance has not improved place the computer into clean boot:
    5) open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    6) msconfig (in the pop up system configuration > move the dot from normal startup to selective startup > uncheck load startup items > click service tab > in left lower corner check hide all Microsoft services > in the lower right side click disable all > click apply or ok > do not reboot)
    7) taskmgr (in the pop up task manager > click on the start up tab > click on status so that the column sorts with enable rising to the top > right click on each row with enable and change to disable)
    8) shutdown /r (you will reboot the computer so that it is in clean boot)

Evaluate the performance on your computer in clean boot during typical use. Are the boots faster or slower? Are the shutdowns faster or slower? How has the audio and video performance changed? Is it better, worse, or the same? How have the freezes/hangs changed? Are they better, worse or the same?
Continue using clean boot indefinitely to monitor performance.

    9) modify the settings so that your computer is set up to view bsod windows and save minidump files:

Keyboard: win + r keys simultaneously > type or copy and paste: sysdm.cpl > click advanced tab > under startup and recover click settings > under system failure uncheck automatically restart See this link:
BSOD Finding and fixing them - Microsoft Community: BSOD Finding and fixing them - Microsoft Community

    10) Make sure that there is no over clocking while troubleshooting.

Sometimes there are problems in the bios that produce bsod.

The bios in your computer: BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. F10, 18/08/2015

Please check to see if this is the most up to date version.

To ensure that there are no improper bios settings please reset the bios.

Sometimes there can be failure to boot after resetting the bios.

So please make sure your files are backed up.

Please make a backup image with Macrium:

Thanks for all your replies. Apologies but perhaps BSOD is not exactly what I'm seeing. As described, the system locks up/freezes at EXACTLY the same time after start-up each time, without fail (so to speak!). If left for a minute or so (I usually reboot without waiting) a blue screen appears saying it's collecting data and will reboot. Or, after updating various drivers and disabling some services, it changed slightly to saying critical process speed but no specific error code. That's what I took to be a BSOD assuming things were different under Win 10, not having actually had one since XP. (I can't see how to attach an image here or I'd post a photo of the message). Sometimes there's a 0% progress indicator which doesn't progress. When it reboots itself the SSD is not listed as a boot device and a hard reset is always required.

I've pretty much disconnected everything from this computer already except.

    Saitek PK25 USB keyboard
    EasyAcc H40 USB 3.0 hub
Akasa AK-P040FG7 400W ATX PSU Power Supply

I followed the steps for selective boot etc in their previous post, disabling Mon-Microsoft services, but the problem remains - lock up at 11m 15s. If I knew how I'd also attach a photo of Resource Monitor showing the disk activity blue line maxed out shortly before the blue screen.

In reply to the request for exact system times, I'm not sure how to provide those. Would simply quoting the Windows clock be sufficient? I could give the time at which the disk maxes out to within a couple of seconds.

It did indeed have an Epson printer which I disconnected and fully uninstalled last week. No change.

When this BSOD happens again, make a photo with a camera or phone and use How to upload files to upload the photo.
Your description sounds like a BSOD (bluescreen of death).

A picture of a BSOD screen in the newest Windows 10, earlier versions don't have the QR code which leads to a Microsoft page for generic troubleshooting steps.

Just found an explanation for the lack of dumps, thanks @zbook for this great catch!

Please setup a pagefile on the C: partition, most preferable let Windows handle it.
Without a pagefile no dump can be saved.

Thanks axe0. Yes, that's the BSOD I'm getting, except it just sits there on 0%. Sometimes it restarts itself without having progressed but, when it does, there's no boot device and a power off/on is always required. Sometimes the BSOD is without the 'we're collecting data' bit, saying 'You can restart'.

Yes, I saw that about the pagefile too. I had disabled it at some point when I was desperately disabling anything I could think of. I've reconfigure that and set up mini dump so I hope the following post from the PC (this is from a tablet) will contain a dump.

Actually, before that I'll try to post the photo of Resource Monitor as the problem is occurring.

Hopefully, the Resource Monitor photo is now attached. On the right the second graph down shows the disk maxing out in the blue line. This happens whenever the problem is occurring. Now that just about everything is disabled is interesting that the process at the top is MsMpEng.exe on all four panes (apologies for grainy image - low brightness on monitor). This was not always the case but may be significant.

Ok, I'll start up the computer after the last freeze and try to generate and post another dump from there...

Well, I don't know what's happening now. First time I ran dm_log since lasty post it said something like system cannot find path to dump file. Having selected small dump I saw the path should be %SystemRoot%\Minidump but found the folder didn't exist so I created it. It has full access from SYSTEM and administrator though not sure who'll be writing the file. Anyway, I waited for another freeze, BSOD, restart and run collector again. this time it found the folder but said no dump file found. Is this to do with the 0% indicator on BSOD not progressing, ie. doesn't collect data? Maybe for same reason as no boot device on restart, ie. SSD drive not available until after hard restart?

It seems MsMpEng.exe gets really busy around this time. But need to post this now before system locks again...
Will probably now leave this till the morning.
