Inaccessible Boot Device - tried to lots of things :(
Hi Guys
I have a Samsung N130 netbook, its a few years old and was originally supplied with Win7. I upgraded it to Win10 last year. It's been running fine and fully updated as necessary. The only modification I have made is to increase the RAM from 1 to 2 GB.
A couple of days ago I was downloading and installing the latest version of iTunes, which then called for a restart. This is when I was greated with the BSOD and the stop code "inaccessible Boot Device".
I can get to the receovery area either by waiting until automatic repairs have failed or by booting from a USB media creation download, which I made yesterday.
At c prompt I can change the drive to D: and see all my files and so I'm hoping that this means the data is safe.
This is what I have tried so far:
1) Restore point (doh! it wasn't turned on)
2) Auto repair
3) Re-booting in all the different safe mode options, one by one
4) Running Scannow, SFC - finds no errors or fixes. Had to force unmount.
Not sure what else to try. I have data I'd like to recover such as itunes library, photos and word/excel documents. Fortunately the emails are IMAP.
I did see an approach on another forum which implied installing Linux as a way of getting to my files.
Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks for reading my post.
