i've installed treesize:an application to give an overview of the folders and their size.
now i'm asking myself because such an application takes access to all the folders, also system window folders like system volume information: is this not dangerous to cause a bsod?

No. It doesn't take access just shows the size.

TreeSize Free works on the MFT (Master File Table) and reaches extremely high scan speeds.

Start up TreeSize Free as an Administrator to calculate the size of all folders - even directories for which you do not have access permission. Since the content of the files will not be read automatically during this procedure, Windows security and data privacy remain guaranteed.
