    BSOD connecting Galaxy S6, 0x1000007e asmtxhci.sys

    Attachment 121903

I was simply watching a movie on Netflix and then my mug filled with hot tea tipped over and went over my Galaxy S6 Edge which was connected via MicroUSB to my PC. I removed the USB cable from my phone to clean and wipe it down, used a cleaning kit for phones to wipe it down and reconnected the USB cable back to my phone...and then it started to rapidly disconnect/reconnect several times and then my PC crashed. I tried another cable with it and it did the same thing except with one third party USB cable, it didn't rapid reconnect.. only with a blackberry cable and a Belkin 3m cable. Even with those cables, I tried to connect it to the wall socket and the cable worked fine with charging.. but on my PC it just keeps rapid reconnecting. :/

A file called Genuine.txt is missing from the zip file you uploaded. Please run dm_log_collector again and upload the resulting zip file.

I ran the log collector again as admin (as did before) and yet I still don't see any genuine.txt file? What is it?

Run these commands in an admin command prompt, it'll create a genuine.txt file on your desktop.
    Code:
    licensingdiag.exe -report "%userprofile%\Desktop\Genuine.txt" -log "%userprofile%\Desktop\repfiles.cab"&del "%userprofile%\Desktop\repfiles.cab" /Q

Woah, it has information about my Product key/installation ID, etc. I don't feel comfortable with publicly uploading that information on here as it "could" be abused. Anyone can "attempt" to provide that installation ID and key to MS over the phone and might end up getting my product key blocked. :/ I'd rather PM it than upload it publicly here.

As far as I can tell, the logs don't hold that kind of precise information

I snipped out the partial part of my product key. The rest of it is unchanged.

Not a problem, that part is only useful to identify what kind of Windows is installed (home, pro, single language, etc.)

That had what I needed, thanks. As axe0 said, there is nothing in that file that can cause you harm. Thousands of other folks have uploaded it here with no problems.

The dump indicates a problem with asmtxhci.sys.
    Code:
    BugCheck 1000007E, {ffffffffc0000005, fffff808df7705ac, ffffe500ba77e818, ffffe500ba77e040}
    Probably caused by : asmtxhci.sys ( asmtxhci+305ac
    That belongs to ASMediaź USB 3.0 controller : 6 x USB 3.0 port(s) (4 at back panel, )

    asmthub3 ASMedia USB3.1 Hub Ser 11/04/2016 07:16:03 C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\asmthub3.sys
    asmtxhci ASMedia XHCI Service 11/04/2016 07:15:42 C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\asmtxhci.sys

Your driver is dated 11/04/2016 which appears to be newer than the one shown on the motherboard web site:

    Code:
    Description: Asmedia_USB3_V1.16.35.1
File Size: 11.28 MBytes update 2016/08/02
You could try uninstalling and reinstalling the latest driver or try rolling back to the previious version via Device Manager.

ASUS barely update their driver downloads for most boards unfortunately.
