BSODs and hangs to do with igdkmd64.sys
Hi,
I've recently been struggling with hangs on my laptop. Using driver verifier as a guide, I disabled Intel Smart Connect (uninstalled and blocked updates) and uninstalled Realtek High Definition Audio (downgraded to the default Microsoft driver). I have also rolled back my Intel Management Engine to a previous version because others have said it might be the cause - it is not. The hangs (the screen entirely freezes and audio buzzes; they seem entirely random and I have even hanged on the login screen) have still continued. When using driver verifier, the BSODs don't appear immediately, but the last two I've gotten (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA and DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION) have been to do with igdkmd64.sys - the Intel graphics driver. The one I have installed currently is version 4501 - the latest on the intel website - although I have previously had 4248 installed as well (automatically through windows update) and the driver verifier BSODs continued. I've been using Snappy Driver Installer to update most of my drivers, but even before I started using SDI (I have reset my laptop before in the hopes of solving this problem), I still got hangs. As far as I remember, the laptop works perfectly in safe mode, which has led me to believe it is a driver issue. I have also read online that others think it may have something to do with the Graphics voltage, but the bios that my laptop is on (insydeH2O) doesn't allow me to try to fiddle with its advanced settings.
I realise that this may just be a hardware issue, but I would love to explore every route before giving in and buying a new laptop. I would really appreciated any help given!
