Surface book BSOD, Kernel security check failure, NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    Hello,

I have bought my new surface book about 1 month ago. It is the one without the NVIDIA graphics card. I recently started to have BSOD problems. Sometimes without notice the blue screen comes up and the first couple times, it was the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL problems. Then now it is the Kernel security check failure problems. I encounter the BSOD about once per day on average. The computer restarts without any problem, but I am worried that it will eventually kill my laptop. Please lend me any assistance possible.

The DM collector file is attached.

    Thank you very much

Hello tg88 and welcome to 10 Forums! :)

Two of the BSODs complain about klif.sys that is the driver for Kaspersky Anti-Virus, please perform a clean installation of it. You can use this tool by Kaspersky to make a full removal:

If you need help with anything, don't hesitate to ask!

    Cheers, Boris :)

    Hello,

I downloaded the tool. It only scanned for 30 seconds and did not find anything. I was confused because that was a virus removal tool. How do I make a clean installation of the klif.sys you mentioned?

    Thanks

Hmm, odd it should have told you something.

I guess you can now just install the latest version of Kaspersky AV from here:

If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!

    Hi tg88,

You might want to try the product uninstall
    Removal tool

Ensure that you do the following before using the uninstall tool, else you will get problems with the uninstall process.
    • Disable self protection (from the GUI)
    • Exit realtime protection (from the system tray icon)

@BorisTheAnimal, you may want to use this post for a list of uninstallation tools for AV's :)
