Did I say that my problems are over? Silly me.

3-4 times today (while accessing games on Facebook and/or during a Stream update) the computer just went black, forcing me to power off and back on. Each time the computer started up again without issue - no BSODs, no warnings, nothing.

So I've stayed away from the Facebook games and have been crash-free so far.

Did I mention that I started looking today online at new computers? :P

New hard drive. Just go and buy a cheap $30 HDD already. You should not be attempting to continue using your PC if it is so obviously being fed bad data. You will destroy it over a relatively short time.

And for the naysayers, HD Tune and Smart are not perfect. I have 3 drives that failed smart from weeks after I got them, and a drive that passes everything but a Windows copy on it will bsod to high heaven.

@StarEmpire, software is never 100% correct, that is known but it is also known that certain software 90% of the time give a very proper indication of the status.
@TedinTO, it is recommended to replace the HDD at least. Instead of a HDD I would suggest to go for a SSD.
