    Multiple BSODs randomly occuring

I've had this laptop for a while. 6-8 months or so. It's used, but some stuff had been updated by my dad. I'd almost bricked it once trying to fix this issue myself. Basically, I'm at my wits end. The various error codes make me think it's a driver issue, but I've updated every driver.

Geek squad dude said it may be bad hardware?

Anyway, here's most of the BSODs that I've encountered. At least, the ones that stayed up long enough for me to register what they said...

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
    SPECIAL_POOL_DETECTED_MEMORY_CORRUPTION
    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER
    ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY
    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

And I think I remember seeing this one: KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

The Kmode, Irql, and stack buffer ones I see far more than the others.

And I feel like there are a few others I've gotten once or twice, but I can't for the life of me find the notepad I had been keeping track of them on.

Also of note, I had to reset my laptop to a previous build recently, so the dmp files are kinda scarce. Still, it has crashed well over 20-30 times since then.

Oh, yeah, I have tried running driver verifier, but it crashes without getting more than a few seconds into booting, and when I get back after turning it off, there's no dmp file.

    warning   Warning
Programs that claim to update your drivers install either the wrong or corrupted drivers.
If you have installed any driver with Driver Booster 3, please remove them as it may cause trouble.

An easy way to get remove these drivers is by using a restore point prior the installation.

Is this an upgrade to Windows 10?
    Code:
    <LocalGenuineState>SL_GEN_STATE_INVALID_LICENSE</LocalGenuineState>
    Check ASUS for BIOS updates.

    Diagnostic Test

     RAM TEST

Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Forums

    Note   Note

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 complete passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Make a photo of the result and post it.

    Addition:
If errors show up you can stop the test, remove all sticks but 1 and test this single stick in each slot for 8 passes or until errors show, switch sticks and repeat.
If errors show up and you see them a lot later, no problem, the errors don't affect the test.

Well, as I said in the original post, I recently restored it. I could only get it to use one restore point, supposedly from back in 2014, long before I got the laptop. I dunno, it had the same password as when I first started using it, so I don't know what was up with that.

It is an upgrade to Windows 10.

Also, since I've restored it, I haven't updated any drivers through an outside program. If anything updated, it was automatically, through the software already on the laptop. Nvidia things and stuff like that.

Unfortunately, I'm working all day today, so I won't be able to run Memtest until I get back. But as soon as I'm able, I'll post my findings.

Last time, I had thought about updating the BIOS. But it seemed a more iffy thing to do without too much explicit tech knowledge. But I'll do that as well when I get home.

Okay, I tried running memtest, but when I try to boot it from the BIOS, the screen flickers briefly and then nothing happens.

Plus, as for the BIOS update, I have the new BIOS downloaded but no idea how to install it. The Winflash that ASUS says to use doesn't exist on their website. They have the one for 8.1, but nothing for 10.

    To update the BIOS
    1. Put the downloaded file on a flash drive (USB) (extracted)
    2. Restart the laptop and press F2 during the POST
    3. From the BIOS go to Advanced > Start Easy Flash and press enter.

Alright, I updated the BIOS. Memtest still won't run, though.

Do you boot from it by changing the boot order or choosing from the boot options?

I did both a few times. When I did it from changing the boot order, it would just go straight to normally booting. When I did it directly from the boot options, the screen flickers once each time I press enter, and then nothing.

Changing the boot order is unnecessary, forgetting to reset it (many do) causes problems.

Do you see any option about legacy or uefi boot mode or something in the BIOS? ASUS hasn't properly documented the BIOS. I had expected that description of all options in the BIOS would be present no matter how obvious it may look, but only a few things are mentioned and not even all main menu's....

It had three boot options with the USB plugged in. I don't remember the full names, but it did have the uefi. I'm not at home at the moment, and I don't have the USB with me, so I can't check.
