    Dear Ztruker,

Since the last post, I have now tested the PC running in safe mode with over 12 hours. The good news is that I haven't received any BSOD in the safe mode. This observation is very encouraging to me. The safe mode I am using is the "safe mode with network", i.e. the F5 option in the advanced start up. Furthermore,
I have also enabled the audio option in this safe mode, following the steps in this thread http://www.hawkdive.com/2015/03/how-to-enable-sound-in-safe-mode.html. This setup allows me to watch video or listen to music in safe mode, although the image quality is not as high as that with the normal mode.

I have uploaded two dump files, one generated with the safe mode, and the other with the normal mode. (The normal mode I use is the clean boot condition.) I wonder what may be your insight related to the safe mode finding.

To reply the question in the last post, for k57nd60a.sys, AtiHdmi.sys, AtiHdmi.sys drivers, the most current versions are installed. I have also uninstalled the hardware in the device manager, and redetect them and reinstall them through windows 10 restart process. But these efforts did not alter the BSOD in the normal mode.

The AtiHdmi.sys is the driver currently used by "ATI high definition audio device".

In addition, two of the drivers in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers seem old to me. They are AtiHdmi.sys, with the software publishing date as Sep, 2009; AtiPcie.sys published in May 2009. AtiPcie.sys is used by AMD PCI Express (3GIO) Filter device. Unfortunately, I could not find further updated driver versions for AtiHdmi, or AtiPcie.

    Thanks!

Not sure I understand. You say one of the dumps is from Safe Mode but you said Safe Mode works without any problems???

Do you get BSODs when you Clean Boot?

All the dumps are Bug Check 0x109: CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION but none from 10/22 or 10/23 have any useful info in them.

What happens if you disable the ATI high definition audio device? If it's onboard, you could replace it with a PCI sound card.

    Dear Ztruker,

    Thanks for the response.

The Safe Mode Windows 10 was tested on the PC for 2 days, and no BSOD was observed.

In contrast, the clean boot give BSODs. Compared with the full boot, the clean boot did not reduce the frequency of BSODs (this was mentioned in a previous post).

When the ATI high definition audio device is disabled, the PC was also observed with BSODs.

The dump.zip file generated with the Safe Mode contains the same BSOD information as the zip file generated with normal mode. However, I was hoping that there are could be other system information we could learn from the zip. For example, what programs are only enabled in clean boot, but not in the safe mode? These programs will be the candidate programs to track down, as they may be the potential cause of BSODs. I need your guidance to nail down these differential programs (safe mode vs clean boot).

    Thanks again!

Here is a pretty good explanation: Safe Mode vs. Clean Boot - Microsoft Community (look at the post by Matt-H).

Safe mode shuts down just about everything that isn't absolutely necessary to get Windows to launch. What is left running, is running with the most stable drivers available and any accelerators or “tweaks” are turned off too. Like video and other hardware acceleration.
This is designed to be as close as can be to a stable environment.
It is slow and clunky, but it shouldn't crash.
It also disables 3rd party addons.

While there are a variety of issues you can use this for Safe Mode is mostly for hardware issues or issues where a software package left regular Windows inaccessible.

Clean Boot does not care about the windows environment. It assumes that Windows is not the problem and that it works fine.
It removes 3rd party vendor addons that are loaded on start up.

While there are a variety of issues you can use this for the purpose of Clean Boot is mainly to troubleshoot software compatibility issues.
There is no real difference between the content of the zip files.

    Dear Ztruker,

    Thanks for all the information.

Just to update that I installed a Windows 8.1 Professional for the same machine. The system runs well for a few days now. No BSODs are observed. So, I may just stick with Windows 8.1 for this machine from now on.

    Thanks for all your help.

    Best regards.

Not a bad choice to stay with 8.1. It was a good OS and if it's BSOD free then that's the way to go.
