    Error code c0000005 - Not a BSOD

I know this sub-forum is normally used for BSOD issues, but I'm not sure if this issue fits in the other sub-forums any better than this one.

For at least a month now, various programs have been crashing with error code c0000005, and I'm not sure how to fix the issue.

I've already run Memtest86 a few times, and I received no errors from the tests I ran.

I've uploaded the latest minidump crash from a program called MusicBee (I no longer have the other minidumps), along with the rest of the files produced from DM Log Collector Tool (Attachment 91458).

According to the crash dump, the appcrash under study is caused by bassmix.dll; used in various software associated with music playing/conversion; MusicBee and RadioBoss are two most common programs who use that dll.

It is also seen that the timestamp of bassmix.dll is much older than the windows 10. So it may be assumed that the dll file may not work perfectly with windows 10; though it seems that MusicBee is having a contemporary version there, if not the latest.

Based on the above, you may uninstall MusicBee and use any other similar program (inbuilt Groove is a very nice one).

But, that does not anyhow justify the other apps crashing as you said.

Please observe which apps are crashing. If all of them are of the same path (D:\Program Files) then there might be a justification. It is very widely seen with windows 10 that it does not cope up perfectly with moving the default locations of the system files.

Alright, I uninstalled MusicBee. Most of the programs that do crash are installed in D:\, however at least one program I noticed (NvStreamUserAgent.exe) is actually installed in C:\.
I also noticed that while most of the faulting modules were random, the most common faulting modules were "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll" and "C:\Program Files\ASUSTeKcomputer.Inc\SS2\UserInterface\x64\SS2OSD.dll".

I was able to crash at least one program reliably and get a minidump out of it (Attachment 91606). GTAVLauncher.exe always seems to crash with error c0000005 after exiting GTA V, at which the launcher shows up for a bit, then crashes.

It is just a similar crash dump like the earlier one; he little difference is it points to the components of Rockstar Games other than MusicBee.

I think it is not an individual program that is crashing, but there is some logic behind them.

As you are using an Education license, it should be belongs to some school/college; and it may be the policy of the system administrator to not run the multimedia apps like games etc.

I think you should contact your system administrator. Let us know what reply you get.

I got the Education license through the Dreamspark program, but my college doesn't control my system. The system administrator is myself in this case, and I haven't set any policy against multimedia apps as far as I'm aware of.

Arc, there are some pretty old drivers. Don't know if any of they are causing problems but one jumped out at me:

That's good, and then we can go for some further troubleshooting steps.

I am thinking of something, let us see what Ztruker thinks about it?

That belongs to Broadcom NetXtreme II wireless device.
    Nice catch as always!
Such an old driver must be problematic. Though this is is set as Manual, still it can cause an issue, and the driver must be updated.
I am thinking that the issue may have something to with with the location of program files folder, which is not C but D. Do you think that we should concentrate any further on it?

I'd like to see the output of the set command from a Command Prompt window.
    Press Windows key + X.
Select Command Prompt or Command Prompt (Admin).
Type set > envvar.txt & notepad envvar.txt and press Enter.
    Notepad will open.
Copy it's contents and paste in a reply here please.

According to that output the directories are in the right location:

    ProgramFiles=C:\Program Files
    ProgramFiles(x86)=C:\Program Files (x86)

But ... I also see D:\Program Files and D:\Program Files (x86) in the PATH.

Silentreaper, where did they come from, why are they there?

From what I see, you have two hard drives:

    Code:
    Drive C:
    Description Local Fixed Disk
    Compressed No
    File System NTFS
    Size 213.67 GB (229,427,679,232 bytes)
Free Space 147.13 GB (157,983,293,440 bytes)
    Volume Name OS
    Volume Serial Number 04E5B296

    Drive D:
    Description Local Fixed Disk
    Compressed No
    File System NTFS
    Size 3.59 TB (3,952,269,586,432 bytes)
Free Space 3.02 TB (3,318,115,315,712 bytes)
    Volume Name Programs
    Volume Serial Number 86C8F221
Was D: a boot drive at one time?
