Nah seems to default on auto
I've booted in safe mode and haven't had a single crash, which tells it might be a driver.
APC_INDEX_MISMATCH is a memory related issue. Either it a failing memory hardware or a driver is passing bad info to the memory.
Enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.
InformationWhy Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.
How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.
WarningBefore enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.
If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.
Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.Tip
- If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
- If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.
Ran Verifier for 24 hours strait and seems to have had no crashes.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors. Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.Code:BugCheck 1, {549421bc, 1, 0, ffffd00021b29b80} Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe ( nt!KiSystemServiceExit+24a ) Followup: MachineOwner ---------
If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.
Take a camera snap of the memtest86+ window before closing the program. Let us see it.

Had a few crashes over the past few days (even crashed while typing this out) and is really doing my head in. I've ordered a set of corsair 8 gig sticks clocked at a lower speed than the Hyper X sticks I've got which may fix my problem.

A few versatile crashes without pointing anything specific. Again a strong indicator of memory mishap.
Can you update the BIOS to the latest stable (not BETA) build?
Check the Rev version (3.0 or 3.1) of your board in the box, and get the right BIOS update file.
See how it goes. Let us know.
** if you are unaware how to do it, dont try it yourself. It may cause damages. Take help of anyone who knows it. It may be a paid professional, too.
Updated the BIOS and haven't had a single crash. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ
