    BSOD Mostly During Gaming

    I'm totally clueless on why my computer is BSOD-ing while I'm playing Dota 2, Overwatch, and just now with watching the TenForum video on the Posting Instructions(lol ). I've tried to lurk, try to fix it myself and see what I can find through the dumps and try to reference everything from the site, but I'm coming up short. I've ran MEMTEST, updated all the drivers I know of. Please help! Thanks.

    That is an old computer.
    BiosReleaseDate = 12/03/2009
    Despite of that, it is highly overclocked.
    MaxSpeed:     2670
    CurrentSpeed: 3500
    Even the RAM is set to an odd speed.
    [Memory Device (Type 17) - Length 27 - Handle 001bh]
      Speed                         1400MHz
    The motherboard does not support that speed.

    Set all the hardware components at their default clock, The CPU, RAM, graphics, everything. Then see how it goes. If it still BSODs, then some other troubleshooting will be needed. Remember that the computer is an old one. It may not be able to bear that high stress.

    Hi there, I've reset EVERYTHING. I just went ahead and did a clean install of Windows 10 to see if it that would fix it, but to no avail. Per your instructions, I have set all the settings in my BIOS to Optimized Defaults. Still getting BSODS via Memory Corruption.

    It is still Overclocked. Though the degree is reduced.
    CPUID:        "Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU         750  @ 2.67GHz"
    MaxSpeed:     2670
    CurrentSpeed: 2720
    And the RAM ....
      Speed                         1600MHz
    1600 MHz is XMP, so it is also OC'd till now.

    At first we need to see how the computer works without OC. Once the issue is determined and actions taken, you get back to your OC; but please dont OC it during troubleshooting.

    Now we need to go for hardware tests.

    Test your RAM modules for possible errors. Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.

    If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.
    Take a camera snap of the memtest86+ window before closing the program. Let us see it.

    Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.Take a screenshot of the furmark window before closing it. Upload the screenshot for us. Also let us know if you have experienced any crash/BSOD and/or artifacts during the test.

    Stress test the CPU.It saves the result as a .txt file in the prime95's folder. Upload the file for us.

    Please make your reply as elaborate as possible about the tests.

    Hi Arc,

    Did as you said with all the tests.

    -Memtest86 for 8 Passes no errors.
    -Ran Prime95 for 3 1/2 hours with no errors.
    -Furmark for 15 mins with it steady at 68-69 C with no change in temperature.

    One thing I'd like to note is that I have mismatched ram.. they are both G. Skill.. but one is 4 GB and the other is 8 GB.

    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8D-8GBRM
    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM

    Not sure if it makes a difference.

    What other things can cause this? Can a bad PSU cause this? I've yet to BSOD but I haven't played or watched any videos on the computer. Just simply browsed the web(trying to maybe build a new computer).

    Thanks again for all the help you've given so far.

    All the tests ran absolutely fine!! Very good news!

    Now, a PSU may cause issues, but not a memory corruption.

    But a failing driver can cause it, by passing bad info to the RAM. So let us enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

    information   Information
    Why Driver Verifier:
    It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

    How Can we know that DV is enabled:
    It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

    warning   Warning
    Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

    If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

    Tip   Tip

    Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

    So I wasnt having any issues whatsoever for the past week. I thought I narrowed it down to my Netgear A6210 WiFi adapter. But it just froze up again while I playing dota..Twice in the mere 5 mins from each other almost. Here is the new log.

    Both the new BSODs are stop 0xF7. It says ....
    *                                                                             *
    *                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
    *                                                                             *
    A driver has overrun a stack-based buffer. This overrun could potentially
    allow a malicious user to gain control of this machine.
    A driver overran a stack-based buffer (or local variable) in a way that would
    have overwritten the function's return address and jumped back to an arbitrary
    address when the function returned. This is the classic "buffer overrun"
    hacking attack and the system has been brought down to prevent a malicious user
    from gaining complete control of it.
    With this information, IMHO it would be the best to go for a Clean Install.
