Bad Pool Header, Driver related crashes, BSOD while Gaming & Vid rendg

    Hi

I have recently upgraded my hardware to Intel Skylake platform, complete system build is linked below via pcpartpicker website
Intel Core i7-6700K, Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti (2-Way SLI), Phanteks Enthoo Pro - PROHDGaming 2016 - prashant9700s Saved Part List - PCPartPicker

Once I complete my build, there were no errors or BSOD but once I started rendering 4K videos, I faced freezes and BSODs, things got worst when I started playing latest game : Rise of the Tomb Raider in 4K and 2K resolutions !

I had few BSOD crashes : Drivers related crashes (which I don't remember drivers reference), then most recently it was one was Bad Pool Header one while in gaming session

I also had bad memory error but since my RAM sticks are brand new, I don't think so it is causing it but anyway to ensure it is not the case I ran Mem test 86 for required runs of test and nothing came up regarding RAM sticks

I have attached system report as suggested by your forum here, so please let me know what could be the reason for these BSOD ?

    Thank you

Most of the time, BSOD occurs when I start my PC first time after 8 to 9 hours shutdown period. I have to switch off power supply swtich off and on in order to have display work, stand by mode starts PC but does not display anything ! could it be PSU?

Today I got " unexpected kernel mode trap" and Bad Pool Header again

Please check {windows partition}\windows\minidump and check if there are any dump files saved.
The zip is empty of dump files.
Please make sure your pc is configured for small dump files How to configure minidump | Windows 10 tutorial

Please run CPU-Z | Softwares | CPUID, open it and make screenshots of the following tabs

    • CPU
    • Mainboard
    • Memory

    Thank you

I will do full memtest tonight as per instruction. Its bran new memory recently I bought from amazon

I have attached screen shots from cpu z as you have mentioned in zip file, also I have created small memory dump as per instruction links

These are the issues I have faced so far after upgrading to Skylake platform with new Asus Mobo, RAM and i7 6700K

    1. First instance was freeze while rendering 4K videos with PowerDIrector 14 ultimate
    2. BOSD - must be driver issues which I could not noticed as i was leaving computer on for rendering
    3. I did overclock with Asus 5 way optimization utility which did overlock to 4.7 ghz but CPU temps were insane under full load so I changed to default bios
    3. Memory Management BSOD occurred specially when I set XMP profile in UEFI BIOS to keep memory speed at 2400 mhz (which is RAM's own speed rather than 2133 mz) - but i changed it back to default to run my PC
    4. I did notice some issues with KasperSky Internet Security - driver crashes rooting to kaspersky drivers so I uninstalled it (after that crashes have reduced)
    5. All Asus bloatware utilities also uninstalled
    6. I used DDU to clean sweep Nvidia driver and reinstalled with Clean install method
    7. I also feel issues might be related to PSU as, I cant put PC back on once it goes to sleep mode, motherboard light keep on and when I hit wake up button/power button, PC starts running with all fans and system on but I dont see any display/Monitor keeps itself in Sleep/stand by mode. Same thing happens when I shut down PC softly, and when next day if I want to turn it on, I must switch off power unit switch and then turn it on in order to have display ON (didnt happen with previous mobo and set up)
    8. I did use Advanced Driver update software to installed drivers after clean install Win 10 (besides I have gone to Asus mobo website and installed drivers manually)

I have already placed order for 1000 W PSU since I will need extra juice to run 980tis in SLI

PS: I did windows memory diagstoic tool ran for 2 hours but I know you will still need memtest 86 results which I will provide you soon

Thanks for the help in advance

    Please disable driver verifier
    • Open an admin command prompt
    • Enter "verifier/reset" (without quotes)

Please make sure all ASUS stuff is removed, driver verifier detects ASUS drivers.
If all ASUS stuff is proper removed, then this driver is missing.
    Driver Reference Table - asramdisk.sys

Please make sure Acronis is up to date, or temporary remove it while troubleshooting

Please check ASUS for driver updates for everything.

All other crashes of today not caused by driver verifier mention the graphics system or in other words the video memory.
I currently think of either hardware incompatibility or faulty hardware, I could be wrong but it looks like it.
    Code:
    Probably caused by : dxgmms2.sys ( dxgmms2!VIDMM_RECYCLE_BLOCK::~VIDMM_RECYCLE_BLOCK+ee )

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply

I have disabled Driver verifier as you have mentioned
I have reinstalled RAMDISK driver from ASUS website for my motherboard already
    I have uninstalled Acronis (clean)
I have checked that all drivers are up-to date from ASUS ROG motherboard website
I also upgraded my BIOS to latest one yesterday

Just now while playing Rise of the Tomb Raider at 4K (opening sequence game play which looks quite demanding with heavy snow effect and large scale mountain area (very rough weather and glacier effect), I got another crash - BSOD Memory Management but PC could not restart and it got stuck with loud noise so I had to switch PSU off and then ON, then I uninstalled Nvidia Hot fix driver 361.82 and installed latest WHQL driver from their website 361.75 (and I did use DDU to clean sweep old driver), after that I played for half and hour and no crashes (only difference I didn't use recording - shadow play which i was doing earlier when it crashed)

UPDATE: I have done memtest 86+ latest version test for 8 hours and 21 minutes then i had to use my PC for some other stuff

There was no errors reported, it was 2.5 passes already (I chose 8 passes)

should I just reinstall windows 10 (clean install)? and Install drivers only from Asus website rather than using any third party driver updater program?

if you still feel that I need to do full 8 passes, let me know but I really doubt it is the RAM sticks

    Thanks and cheers

    Hi

I am running memtest 86+ once again since last night, its been 14 hours and almost four passes done without any errors, will wait few more hours since I am at work and give you results snap

Should I do stress test for GPUs with Heaven or valley? could it be GPUs?

Or please advise if I need to do Driver verification with Driver verifier?

sometimes after crashed, PC stucks and does not restart automatically? what could be the reason for it? i am assuming there would be no dump file if I have to hard restart my system

    Awaiting for your suggestions

    Thanks

than using any third party driver updater program?
    Do you use any?
If you are, it is highly recommended to remove what it has installed and remove the program(s).

Lets keep it at 1 thing at a time, stress test the GPU when MemTest86+ is completed with zero errors.

Once RAM test is completed, I will do Furmark test - should I do it on Individual GPU or SLI?

I am not going to use Driver installer programs anymore as I have learned it hard-way! but how to determine bad drivers installed by this program which might be reason of system instability?

should I also run Driver signature verifier once more? if yes, please tell me how considering my previous results? so far whenever I ran verifier System just restarts with BSOD in loop then after few attempts it goes into automatic repairs !!
