Well... it was too good to be true.

Got a BSOD this morning, still from the rt640x64. Will be going to buy that LAN card... Hoping that will be the fix.

Did some debugging with internal hardware. There is no BSODs when I use 1 stick of RAM. Therefore, it's either bad RAM or a bad DIMM port. I would assume bad DIMMs, but I can;t be sure. Therefore, I just purchased replacement pieces. I will leave this thread an unresolved for a few more days. If I get my new parts (a different ASUS mobo and Corsair RAM) and I still get BSODs, then we have an issue.

Thanks for all of your help.

You can make it sure. You need to use Memtest86+ for it. The process is time consuming.

Check the Part 3 of the tutorial MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Forums .... you will get the idea what to do.

I ran the Memtest86 on both sticks about 5 or 6 days ago. 8 passes and no errors. I may try with just one stick.

However, I have a new theory. Whenever I run the Intel Extreme Utility Tuning benchmark, the system BSODs JUST before the benchmark closes. Is this a stronger pinpoint to CPU failure do you think? I will attach the dump files associated with using this utility.

They seem to still give us the rt640x64.sys error, when using !thread and dps. However, the folks at the MSI believe that is just spitting out a general driver failure for something much deeper.

    Your CPU is slightly OC'd.
    Code:
    CPUID: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz"
    MaxSpeed: 4000
    CurrentSpeed: 4008
In this situation XTU may cause a failure. If you are thinking that the CPU may be causing the issue, be sure about it. Set the CPU to default clocks and Test it with Prime95.
Stress test the CPU.It saves the result as a .txt file in the prime95's folder. Upload the file for us.
If it detects a hardware error, then you can blame the CPU itself.

About the network driver, it is being flagged constantly. In general, a CPU error or any sort of hardware error should not do it, unless the error is causing from the network chip. The most common causes of such a situation are .....
    • ✓ Driver related issue (we may overlook it; as it is consistent irrespective of the driver version installed and irrespective of the source of the driver)
    • ✓ A virus (we may overlook it too; as a clean install did not change anything)
    • ✓ An antivirus, mainly third party (I am not seeing you have any of them installed)
    • Background programs using network
    • Factory bolatware or any other network monitoring program installed
    • An unstable version of google chrome, specially running in the background, from services or startup programs
    • Faulty chip, motherboard issue.

Items having the "✓" mark are already checked. I think a clean install has taken care of all the things other than the last one. Still, perform a clean boot, uninstall Chrome and use any other browesr, uninstall all the programs from MSI, uninstall any other program known to you as monitoring your network.
You will have only one option left then.

A memory error can be disguised by a driver failure, but not a CPU error.

I tried something really strange and just disabled the Realtek driver. I fired up Wicther 3, a demanding game for hardware, and was able to get some new warnings.

** As I type this, when I run thread and dps, the warnings actually disappeared from the dump file. Is that normal? I re-enabled the driver to have internet access to post this, but the warnings are actually gone for me. They were there. It was volmgr.sys and partmgr.sys. They had warnings when I checked... Odd. Maybe you can make something of it.

--07/08-- Just reiterating that I will have new parts soon. They will arrive by Wednesday. Therefore, I will keep this as unresolved until at least next Friday. Thanks.

What about the OC and CPU test? Please let us know.

The OC, I have no idea. I see nothing in the BIOS to change anything like that. That is a slight concern. I can't find any reason why it's .01 GHz over the stock... Skylake CPUs are designed for Overclocking, but I did not intend to do any OC for some time. I'll keep looking into the BIOS maybe?

Anyway... I got a BSOD when I stopped the prime95 test. Yet another BSOD blaming rt640x64. I will include everything. prime95, however, shows all passes.

    Thanks, Arc.

Based on the Prime95 test, we cannot say that the CPU is failing. I dont know why XTU is doing so. That's odd enough.
Prime95 is the best available CPU test.

I think you need to uninstall the OC utilities like XTU and OCCT, then go to the BIOS and set it to the optimized defaults.
Also uninstall any such programs as said in post #26.
