So it sounds like your saying my motherboards total memory limit is 8GB?
That conflicts with their specs ASRock > Z97 Pro4
    - Max. capacity of system memory: 32GB*
(*Due to the operating system limitation, the actual memory size may be less than 4GB for the reservation for system usage under Windows 32-bit OS. For Windows 64-bit OS with 64-bit CPU, there is no such limitation.)

Please ignore the last few posts, I was reading the page not right.

Getting back to the troubleshooting where we went off, the next step is to
    • Use different memory sticks OR
    • Remove 1 stick

Ok, I will try removing one stick first. Does it matter which one I remove?

    Currently not

Please note, if you get a crash with a single stick then seat this stick into a different slot. If another crash occurs it is almost certain that the stick is not the cause then.

Ok, I'm not following you again, it sounds like you are saying:
"If I get a crash with a single stick, then seat that same stick into a different slot. If another crash occurs that stick is NOT the cause then. (even though it caused 2 crashes??)

That is my bad, a small typo

In any way, seat both sticks in different slots and see if a crash occurs.
You could of course also try this with borrowed sticks

Since we we tried both sticks in the black slots originally and now they are in the blue slots, that's both sticks in all the slots.
I do have an older computer with some ram sticks in it I could try those. Would it hurt my computer if they are the wrong kind of ram sticks?
I know they won't be recognized but would it hurt my computer?

I've had system freezes for weeks, a little bit less than the date you created this thread. I had also moved my sticks to other slots but that did not improve. Currently I have only 1 stick seated and my system has currently been stable since, I have yet to move on to the other stick but that is because my problem could happen days after the last one.
My point, you have seated your sticks in different slots, try to run 1 stick at a time to see if that makes a difference as it in various situations does.

    would it hurt my computer?
In what way do you mean that it would hurt your pc exactly? In hardware damage, software problems, system performance, or?
