    BSOD help

Erratic BSOD episodes, sometimes black screens followed by various error messages. Might be several days with no problems then repeated crashes on start up. Never had any crashes with Win 7.

Dumps are all over the place but most show some type of corruption, memory, thread, stack ...

Download Memtest86+ (you want the 2nd one Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)). Unzip it then create a CD from the iso file using your CD burning software. There is a good freeware burner called ImgBurn which will do this easily.

DO NOT burn the .iso file directly to CD. It must be used as input to a program that knows what to do with it, like the one I mentioned above.

You can do this on any computer that has a working CD Burner.

You can also use a Flash drive instead of a CD.

Download - Auto-installer for USB Key (Win 9x/2k/xp/7) *NEW!*.
Unzip and run Memtest86+ USB Installer.exe.
It will format the flash drive if you tell it to. I used a small, 16MB flash drive and it had 8.5GB left when done.

Boot the CD or Flash drive and run Memtest86+ for at least 3 complete passes unless it shows errors sooner than that. An overnight run is even better.

Ran test through 6 cycles and no errors detected. Finally figured out I had to exit the CD to stop the program!
    What's the next step?
    Thanks again

As I said, dumps are all over the place so not much I can glean from them.

Looking at your drivers, many are very old:

    Code:
    2008/09/24 11:28:20 AM C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\SiSRaid2.sys
    2008/10/01 02:56:04 PM C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\sisraid4.sys
    2008/11/03 08:48:14 AM C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\adfs.sys
    2009/11/10 05:35:15 AM C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\VBoxNetAdp.sys
    2009/12/01 08:20:08 PM C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\EuDisk.sys
    2010/01/18 12:40:25 AM C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\rcmirror.sys
    2010/09/01 12:53:14 AM C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\psi_mf.sys
    2011/04/11 11:48:16 AM C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\iaStorV.sys
    2011/06/02 01:56:51 PM C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\dccmtr.sys
    2012/05/03 12:56:17 PM C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\GEARAspiWDM.sys
    2012/11/26 04:02:51 PM C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\stexstor.sys
    2012/12/11 01:21:44 PM C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\amdsbs.sys
    2013/01/21 11:00:28 AM C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\vstxraid.sys
    2013/02/04 11:47:18 AM C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\bxvbda.sys
    2013/02/14 02:11:09 PM C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\AtihdW76.sys
    2013/03/15 04:39:38 PM C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\lsi_sss.sys
    2013/03/26 02:36:54 PM C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\HpSAMD.sys
    2013/06/03 03:02:39 PM C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\megasr.sys
This one 2009/11/10 05:35:15 AM C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\VBoxNetAdp.sys belongs to an older Oracle VirtualBox. If you still use it, download and install the latest version which is Version 5.0.20 r106931. Otherwise just uninstall it.

Looking at them, it appears you did an upgrade from Windows 7.

    Another is 2010/01/18 12:40:25 AM C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\rcmirror.sys

    Code:
Product: Windows (R) Win 7 DDK driver
Company: Windows (R) Win 7 DDK provider
Description: HP RC Mirror Miniport Driver
If it shows in Programs and Features, uninstall Win 7 DDK. Windows 10 version is available here:
Download kits and tools - Windows Hardware Dev Center

With the problems you are having I suggest backing up your data then doing a Clean Install of Windows 10.
For backup I would use Macrium Reflect to save an image on a external USB hard drive. Follow this tutorial: Windows 10 - Clean Install

Once the clean install is done, you can install Macrium then use it to copy your data from the backup image to the hard drive.

I'm going to ask a couple of the other BSOD guys to take a look at this and also offer suggestions.

Will be away from the PC till next week and will do what you and colleagues recommend. Strangely, running the MemTest last night has helped. No BSOD's today. Is it serendipity or can running the test actually help?

    Thanks again,

    Nah, serendipity for sure.

You do have mixed RAM though. If I read it correctly, you have 4GB as 1GB 2GB 1GB.
The two 1GB DIMMs are Manufacturer 7F7FFE0000000000 while the 2GB DIMM Is Manufacturer CE00000000000000.

As a test, remove either the one 2GB DIMM or the two 1GB DIMMs and run for awhile, see if that makes any difference.
You may want to consider replacing all of them with 3 2GB DIMMs, all the same manufacturer, since you are running a 64 versions of Win 10.

Also, please fill out your System Specs as much as you can. See here:

How to fill out System Specs for tenforums.

I would like you to run a few hard drive tests to see the status of the drive, I've seen these log a few times re-occuring after each other what isn't a good sign.
Run below tests on each partition/drive
    Code:
    Event[0]:
      Log Name: System
      Source: disk
      Date: 2016-06-06T14:30:31.216
      Event ID: 51
      Task: N/A
      Level: Warning
      Opcode: N/A
      Keyword: Classic
      User: N/A
      User Name: N/A
      Computer: Arnold2-PC
      Description:
An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\DR1 during a paging operation.

    Event[48434]:
      Log Name: System
      Source: Microsoft-Windows-Ntfs
      Date: 2016-06-07T08:27:08.051
      Event ID: 98
      Task: N/A
      Level: Error
      Opcode: Info
      Keyword: N/A
      User: S-1-5-18
      User Name: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
      Computer: Arnold2-PC
      Description:
Volume K: (\Device\HarddiskVolume4) needs to be taken offline to perform a Full Chkdsk.

    Diagnostics Test

     HDD TEST

Run SeaTools to check the integrity of your HDD. SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use - Windows 7 Help Forums
    Run following tests
    1. Short Drive Self Test
    2. Short generic
    3. Long generic

If the short generic fails, no need for the long generic.
    Note   Note
Do not run SeaTools on an SSD as the results will be invalid.

Post screenshots/photos of the test results

    Run chkdsk
Disk Check - Windows 7 Help Forums
Upload the chkdsk log Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer - Read in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

    Run HDTune to
    • scan for errors, no quick scan but full scan
    • check the health,
    • benchmark.

It may take some time, but please take the time you need to perform it properly.
When above is done please make screenshots of the following
    • the error scan,
    • the health,
    • the benchmark incl. following
      • transfer rate,
      • access time,
      • burst rate,
      • cpu usage.

I hope I've submitted what you've asked. Ran into trouble trying to get a chkdsk log in Event viewer but I did run it from Win 10. Of course, the PC is currently well behaved. None of the tests run today show errors. Not completely comfortable running up against my minimal level of expertise but will persist with your help.

    Thanks
