BSOD during windows update, VIDEO DXG_KRNL FATAL ERROR

    Hi,

In the middle of windows update, I'm getting a BSOD with VIDEO DXG_KRNL FATAL ERROR. After this, I have to hold the power button down to power off, and when I restart it says "Restoring your previous version of windows" and then I can go back into the computer.

Because of this I can't update windows at all.

I did some reading, but couldn't find much information. Some people seem to think that this is because of a faulty graphics driver installed by windows update. So, I manually updated my graphics drivers (intel as well as nvidia), and used WUSHOWHIDE.DIAGCAB to uncheck all other updates except "Upgrade to Windows 10 Home Single Language, version 1511, 10586". Repeated windows update, still same error.

Also, this is not the first time I'm getting this error. It happened last time there was a big windows update. But that time, I disabled only the intel driver from the list of updates, and it went through fine.

I have uploaded the zip file according to instructions. Can anyone help?

    Hi passenger001,

    Welcome to the 10forums :)

Lets start with verifying your system files, please follow below instructions.

    Diagnostics Test

     System File Check

    Please try following:
    • Open an admin command prompt
    • Copy/paste "sfc/scannow" (without quotes) and press enter
    • When it finished reboot your system
    • Open again an admin command prompt
    • Enter sfc/scannow again

If sfc/scannow says "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them" after the second SFC, please upload the cbs.log file located at %systemroot%\Logs\CBS\, if the file is too large try a 3rd party uploader like dropbox, onedrive, google drive, mediafire etc.
System File Check(SFC a.k.a. Windows Resource Protection) needs to have your system rebooted in order for sfc to try to fix the problems that it finds.

Make a photo of SFC and post it.

    EDIT:

    Diagnostics Test

     Malware scan

Please run a threat scan with Malwarebytes*, a full scan with your AV, scan your system with Adwcleaner, Kaspersky TTDSKiller, ESET Online Scanner and SuperAntiSpyware
    Note   Note
*(Uncheck trial version in the installation process)

    Please upload the scan logs.
