Okay, just a quick question though, if it's okay? OP said they didn't want to clean re-install Windows, but it's possible for me. Does re-install windows mean format the drive and install the new Windows disc or can it mean the "Reset this PC" option. I am willing to use the "Reset this PC" option and do a clean install that way, do you think it could possibly solve the problem, or would it be pointless?
So after nearly 32 hours of the verifier continuously running, it has not managed to crash the laptop. I have even tried to push the system into crashing by enabling/disabling the radios, connecting whatever usb equipment I could find, stressing it with benchmarks, video encoding etc but to no avail. The only thing that can definitely crash the pc is to put it to sleep, but that does not create a dump. Should I leave it longer or can I try something else? I was hoping to solve the problem before the start of the working week, since I will need my laptop to sleep properly due to having to carry it from place to place, but unfortunately I dont see this happening
I suggest that you change your power option settings to prevent your laptop from going to sleep and everytime shutdown, if sleep certainly is what triggers it then this is a (temporary) solution.
Resetting is almost the same as a clean install, but all stuff installed by ASUS (which sometimes may cause trouble) are be installed (again).
With a clean install you loose everything, but a folder called Windows.Old could be created in the Windows partition referring to the old Windows installation from which you can get files in case you need some.
A clean install or reset helps IF the problem is software related (i.e. drivers from programs, conflicts between software or settings, improper configured settings, etc.)
Thanks for the advice. I already did that to be able to carry the laptop around, although I dont really have piece of mind carrying a functioning hot laptop in a tight backpack. Any other tricks to try after coming back from work? Is there any way to fix this (like a "repair windows" option, something that does not require reinstalling data and programs from scratch)?

Meanwhile, I took a look at my old dump files (before the problem became persistent) through BlueScreenView . There are 5 dumps in total for the laptop's 18-month lifespan. All of them show ntoskrnl.exe to be the culprit, 4 of them have the "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" bug check string and the remaining has the CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. Is there a possiblity that there was an underlying intermittent issue that for whatever reason became permanent now? Do all these ring a bell?

Windows files(ntoskrnl.exe is a Windows file) -> never the cause.
It is only the marked cause because there was nothing else to blame.
Just want to leave an update from someone who's having the same issue: I did a fresh installation of Windows 10, and the problem still occurs. Going to contact ASUS for help.
I never said it would solve the problem, since you didn't provide anything requested we can't help you...
