BSOD - windows 10 frozen & no desktop
This is my first problem with Win 10 and its Serious! Windows won't re-load properly, so no access to files, error logs or anything. I upgraded to W10 from W7 on a 5-year old desktop computer about 2 months ago. (W7 often went blue-screen on restarting but usually corrected itself after a few attempts.). No trouble with W10 - everything was working fine until yesterday, when I entered Settings and clicked on the network/internet item, then some sub-items to examine them, including data usage and VPN which were blank, and on Ethernet (which I use) and during this the sub-window froze. I could not close it. I opened up another and that froze too. I then opened Task Manager and tried to closed the Settings application which was not responding. I think that was when the screen went blank - pale turquoise (rather than the deep blue under W7). I tried the old trick that worked in earlier OSs, pressing <Ctrl-Alt-Del>. This produced a small list of options on screen, such as change user, sign out etc., and at bottom right the power option. So I clicked restart but same difference! Blank turquoise screen. Though curiously, some part of windows is still there, as on clicking on the blank screen my last open email (Outlook) window appears, but frozen, and internet connection list can be raised. Powering off, waiting, then on again does not solve problem. Checked BIOS on re-booting and hardware diagnostic checks passed OK. Windows tries to start (windows logo appears momentarily) but reverts to the blank screen. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!
I am now using a separate laptop (W10 OK on this one).
