Decided to upgrade cpu cooler to corsair H100iGTX.
Running tests now to see if that makes a difference.

Ok, Installed new corsair liquid cooler and reinstalled windows on a new ssd drive. System seems to run better. I still am getting lockups but no bsod yet. lockup happens so far only during gameplay. I can go much longer than before it locks up now , where as before it would just crash the program after only a couple minutes.

I run prime95 until i feel it gets to hot, about 70. I dont get any erros or bsod like I did before. unless I dont run it long enough. But I'm worried about overheating processor.

If you abort the test when it is approaching 80-85C max then you won't damage anything but simply need to pay some attention to the air flow and thermal paste.
If the test doesn't reach those temps and your cooling is proper + thermal paste proper then there is nothing to worry if also no errors show :)

Ok. ran prime 95 again. temp peaked at about 69 then settled down to about 64. no errors. systems does seem a bit more stable after latest windows install and cpu cooler upgrade. only get occasional lock up. can happen anytime playing a game, on internet, or just idle on desktop. I'm going to upgrade psu to a corsair 1000w.
