    Disk Signature Collision Problem

Hi, on boot after normal night shutdown, win10 would not boot, got to Win10 icon then the intro music and just a grey screen.

Using the Win 10 install disc, every recover option said after selecting the o/s, this repair option is not available. After trying numerous other fixes, I ran the EasyRE Boot repair utility which has rescued me before.

That report there were "overlapping partitions on C drive" I ran the auto repair option which recovered boot ability - after running 2 re-boots (first one stalled). In the process some of my drives were re-lettered

Using Windows Disk Manager I re-assigned the drive letters, but one drive with 2 partitions is reported as "offline" due to Disk Signature Collision Problem

In Win 7 I would have run DiskPart to correct the uniqueid records

This does not seem to be available in Win 10 and I cant find any forum or mention of how to correct a Disk Signature Collision Problem

I would rather not loose the data on that drive.

How can the partitions suddenly become overlapping after a normal shut down ?????

    Can anyone help please

    Rgds Jonathan

Disk signature is applied to the whole disk, not partition. Normally happens when you clone the disk and is available in Windows 10. Here's an example:
I change the last digit from 6 to 7 then change back from 7 to 6:

Hi Topgundpc, many thanks for quick reply.

When I tried 'diskpart' from an elevated prompt, it accepted the command but the diskpart prompt never appeared despite a wait for it.

I should have tried again . Instead, as so many functions have been changed in Win10, I did a search for diskpart+Win10 and found no specific results showing it was on Win10.

Tried now and all is good :)

    Again many thanks, rgds Jonathan
