Good to hear, please stay in safe mode for a few hours to be sure.
Safe mode rules out most of the hardware components as with some software and drivers that are loaded in safe mode.

Because I have so much trouble with the reboots, I decided to reboot from safe mode into safe mode with msconfig to see what would happen, and it booted and let me log in flawlessly again.
I'll let the system run for a few hours now!
Just wanted to share how it ended:
I could start it up in safe mode, but whenever I started it up normally it crashed before starting, and then finally crashed (though it could take a couple of hours). I finally did a complete reinstall, and now it all works fine. I guess we'll never know exactly what it was, but I thank you for all the help!

In safe mode, only the minimum is loaded, no 3rd party software or drivers.
If you couldn't boot in normal mode it was a driver causing problems but yet with the upgrade it could also be a problem with Windows self.
If you don't have any more problems you can mark this thread solved :)
