    BSOD while using Firefox


    Hi, I'm a first time poster, but this forum has helped me out quite a few times in the past and people here seem to know their stuff, so...

    Anyway, today was the second time I got a blue screen since getting this computer, like half a year or so ago. It came with Windows 7, but I upgraded to 10 a few months ago.
    Both blue screens occured while I was using Firefox. Right before the first one I was watching a Youtube video, before the second one I was just browsing around.
    I'm not entirely sure both blue screens were caused by the same issue since I only managed to snap a pic of the error code the second time around. Both times I think it was of the IRQL_LESS_OR_EQUAL variety, though the file it refered to in brackets following that I only caught this second time. It was L1C63x64.sys.
    I wasn't sure if I was supposed to make a new thread for this or post in an already existing one. The Instructions said to make a new thread but I also saw threads describing the same error code. Though, I don't know if that would mean that I'm experiencing the same issue.
    Please excuse it if opening a new thread was the wrong choice.

    It seems to be caused by the driver for: Qualcomm Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30)

    Try downloading the newest available driver from here: http://devid.info/p466934

    Hi collegeblock,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

    Please remove MSI Afterburner, it is known for causing BSOD's.

    As @karims says, it is caused by an outdated driver of your Qualcomm device.
    However, I recommend to check for driver updates at the official Qualcomm (Scroll down for product support)​ site.

    Okay, first of all thanks for the quick reaction.

    Maybe I can't see the forest for the trees here but I couldn't find a link to any product support section on the page you linked, axe0. I did however find a link to their official Qualcomm Atheros side, which even lets you search for products. However, selecting Ethernet from the product type drop down menu didn't pull up any options for the AR8151. The most recent driver I could find on the link posted by karims was for Windows 7 and didn't seem significantly newer than what I already have. So I searched around a bit and found https://www.atheros.cz/atheros-network-drivers.html . It's an unofficial site but of all the archives I've seen so far it seemed the most complete. The list implied that there at least was a driver for Windows 8, which I read somewhere else on here should work if nothing more recent is available. Which it seemingly isn't. Only problem is, trying to download the most recent driver for Windows 8 just got me to a page saying it couldn't be found on the server. Anywhere else I looked the most recent driver was for Windows 7 or even XP. What should I do?

    I forgot to add the Atheros site.

    Try to update your driver as far as possible.

    Okay, I think I may have found what I was looking for on Driver Scape.
    Just installed it. We'll see if this solves the problem. If it doesn't I guess I'll write again. Until then we can probably mark this issue as solved. Just posting the link for anyone else who might have gone through the same problems as me and came here through Google.

    It seems the problem is still persisting, since I just experienced that same BSOD again.
    Attaching another system log file in the hopes that the issue isn't that I need the non-existant Windows 10 version of the previously updated driver.

    I see I have missed a few things.
    Nvidia Video driver had been flagged
    Please uninstall everything of Nvidia using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from Nvidia

    Okay, so I've been a bit busy this week and didn't get around to doing something about this. However, I have been experiencing a new symptom. Sometimes when I boot up my PC and it starts up Windows I now get nothing but flashing white screens instead of the usual lock screen. Sometimes it's both monitors, sometimes it's just one of them while the other says it's not receiving a signal. Usually it still displays a cursor, though. Only way I've found to get around this is simply rebooting and hoping for the best. Usually works out on first try. I have, however, not gotten a BSOD in a while - at least a week. I guess it's possible that some things have changed since I last posted so I'm gonna post another log file with this post. I'm pretty sure, though, that these issues are connected.

    So, anyway... When you say uninstall Avast are you saying I should switch to another virus protection programm or would reinstalling it be okay? Also, are you suggesting I should do a clean install of the entire OS or would an uninstall and reinstall or Avast and the Nvidia drivers do? Because I got this PC with Windows 7 and am not sure how to get Windows 10 on it other than upgrading.

    I'm just gonna go ahead and do the reinstalls while I await a reply.

    Edit: Done. Did a fresh installation of the Nvidia drivers. Also, I'm now giving AVG a try. Attaching another log file.
