Mikey5Aces, did you try to PM axe0 like his signature says? :)

Did you also upgrade from Win7 to Win10? I'm starting to think that migrating rather then format->clean install is a bad decision. If things persist, I will have to clean install Win10 to see if things get better.

Currently, I have only mouse and keyboard on, even the HDD is disconnected. Had to go to work, but before I left, I checked on Memtest and it completed six passes with 0 errors. I'll post a photo once I get back.

No, didn't see that thx. Yeah this has been a 6 days nightmare for me like you. Except I bought a brand new toshiba laptop online from Costco. It came with i76700 HQ, 512 SSD, 16 GB RAM DDRL3, 4K Touchscreen and 4GB 950M GTX NVIDIA Graphics Card all for $1199. Thought it was an amazing deal, and it would be if I didn't have so many BSOD Driver Power State Failure errors. I think this laptop was upgraded before it was sold from 8.1 to 10 because in 1 of the dump files it said win8 driver not working or something like that.

Plus the dump files always have nvlddmkm.sys and pci.sys errors and ntoskrnl.exe errors. I try to open Chrome with my NVIDIA Card instead of integrated 530 Intel graphics and within 2 minutes chrome stops responding and the whole computer freezes. Then 2 minutes later the BSOD Driver Power State Failure comes on and the computer restarts. I think even though it says I have the current 359.06 updated driver for NVIDIA, I read tonight the pdf and it doesn't list laptops with 950M GTX cards as compatible with the 358-359 version that NVIDIA currently has. So that begs the question, is that causing this for me? Should I try to install an earlier driver because I did a few days ago and it wouldn't let me. I didn't press the issue at the time but now who knows? Don't know how to do it but I can get help with that.

But is that really the issue? All I know is that I have spent 6 days learning about debugging and dump files and programs like drivereasy and reimage and yada yada yada. I wanted to enjoy my laptop but instead I am ready to return it and get a new one.

    So that's my issue lol.

If you check my thread here, you'll see that axe0 posted a Nvidia driver remover. I'm not an expert but I'd do this:
Download it, clean the drivers and install fresh, compatible ones, then see if problem persist.

Win10 users who upgraded their system from previous Windows version (particularly 7) seem to face BSODs at times, I did try to search the internet and people who got showered by BSODs usually were the upgrading kind.

As for your laptop, I'd honestly return it, laptops should be issue-free with their "innards" tuned for compatibility by the manufacturer himself. I've got a Dell ultrabook myself, upgraded to Win10 and got maybe one random BSOD over time, nothing as ridiculous as with my poor PC rig.

    Hey axe0,

Glad you are helping this person with dozens of replies but you do realize there are other people who posted (including me)who have similar issues and it's been almost 3 days and only 1 reply from a guy who couldn't analyze dump files. Nothing since.

Would be nice if you or someone else who can decipher them would reply to some others.

Yeah, I am returning it and getting the same model (only because the specs are too good for the price). If it happens again then I honestly don't know what I'll do at that point. Maybe though the hardware was faulty or something, who knows.

By the way, how could I tell if this laptop had windows 10 factory installed or it previously had windows 8.1 and was upgraded before being sold??

There is probably an easier way to do this but one method I know of is to check the device manager to see if drivers were migrated.

    like this;

What does the sticker on the back of the laptop say?

right... much easier! Didn't think of the obvious :P

axe0, if memtest shows nothing (it probably won't) and I get even more ridiculous BSODs despite having only two USB devices (and necessary two, I guess) connected, is there a reason NOT to do fresh install at this point? I can't even keep track of those BSODs anymore.

To be honest I don't know. I am not around my laptop for the night. I know it had the Windows 10 sticker I believe on the front with the NVIDIA sticker. The reason I am thinking that this was upgraded before being sold (which I didn't know) was because in a few of the dump files it had "win8 not working" or something like that. When it mentioned win8 in the dump files that leads me to believe that this laptop once had windows 8.1. Am I wrong to think that based off of the dump file?

Check out if the drivers were migrated then :) if not, it's a clean install.
