Sudden and unexpected BSOD on Win10

    Hello all,

I have a self-built CP with above average specs running Win10.
Every once in a while I'll get a BSOD when I'm not necessarily doing
    anything in particular.
I thought I'd try using a few of the debugging tools to figure out
the problem, but sadly they don't seem to work on Win10.
At any rate, I'd like to find out how to fix the BSODs, so I'd truly
    appreciate any advice.

    Cheers,

    SocAbd

    Hi socratesabroad,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

Please check {windows partition}\windows\minidump and check if there are any dump files saved.
The zip is empty of dump files.
Please make sure your pc is configured for small dump files How to configure minidump | Windows 10 tutorial

    Thanks for the reply, axe0.

OK, I checked and there were no minidumps, so I followed your
instructions to configure Win to create them.

I don't know when the OS will crash next so I don't know when
I'll be able to send the minidump.

In the meantime, here's a link to the full memory dump:
    Full memory dump (zipped)

It's a pretty big file - 253 MB zipped - and I did try to upload
it this site directly but uploading was taking too long.

The biggest cause is Norton/Symantec (Symantec is the company, Norton the product)
Please follow the uninstall instructions but do NOT install Norton again.

I'll have to think seriously about doing this. I live in China, so firewall/
antivirus software is a necessity. I'll check into software from
    other companies.

Use Windows defender the next few months until Norton is more stable.

The cause is Nvidia Video driver
    Please try the following
    • Search msconfig and open it
    • Go to the tab services
    • Check 'Hide microsoft services'
    • Search Nvidia Streamer Service
    • Uncheck this service
    • Click apply > ok
    • Reboot if asked.
