    Startup failure

    My wife's computer is quite old (Z68 - i7 2600k, 4+4 G DDR3 2133, 128G SSD + 1T HDD). Win 10 - 64b 22h2
It was working and one day it began to fail during startup. It began to boot from the SSD and then a BSOD appears for very short time and then reboots.
The computer boots normally from a Win10 PE like Bob.Ombs.Modified.Win10PEx64.v4.98.

Where can I find the boot failure log?

By default that log is not enabled...

How to Enable and Find Your Windows Boot Log

Have you checked the disk with e.g. Crystal Diskinfo? (If not on the live boot disk, there's a portable version).

Thanks Dalchina. How can I enable the boot log from a WinPE (I can't boot the main drive)?

Depending on the BSOD-Message it doesn't create the LOG-File

FWIW you could use the info in the link I posted and use bcedit (offline)
windows server 2008 - How can I edit the boot configuration data (BCD) store of another disk? - Server Fault

    - but I doubt that will get you very far.

As I suggested- first thing- check the disk.

See if these files were created:

    %windir%\system32\logFiles\srt\srttrail.txt

    c:\windows\system32\logfiles\srt\srttrail.txt

    %systemroot%\minidump
    %systemroot%\memory.dmp

    C:\windows\memory.dmp
    C:\windows\minidump

See if event viewer, msinfo32, dxdiag, are available and can be shared using Ombs.

Personally I would just replace the drive. It is possible the motherboard is failing with a system that old. As cheap as refurb hardware is these days, you can get a whole new laptop for under $200 for off-lease 4th and 5th Gen.

I did test the two drives: the system (SSD) and data (HDD) drives. I ran chkdsk x: /f and run Crystal disk info. No problems found.
