I haven't seen very many Ryzen 5000 series CPUs fail but I've seen way more than their fair share of Ryzen 3000 CPUs end up faulty. I haven't done it myself but for others I've seen the RMA process with AMD take about two weeks for a replacement CPU to arrive. I think they ask questions about whether or not the CPU was overclocked and if XMP/DOCP settings beyond those officially supported by AMD for the CPU were used. For those that got a replacement CPU I believe they answered no to both.

Please do let us know how it goes. Good luck!

    Just a quick update.
On Dec. 9 at 5:30 pm local time I submitted a warranty claim with AMD. About 10 minutes ago I received an email and my claim was accepted and I was sent an RMA# along with shipping info. I am very impressed with how quick they approved the RMA. I was even sent a prepaid Fedex shipping label and all the customs declaration forms, however, looking over the forms the declared value for the package was pre-set at $55.00 with no insurance. Do they really expect me to ship an expensive item like this during the xmas season with no insurance against loss or damage and a set value of $55.00? WTF? I sent them another email asking for some clarification on what would happen if the package ended up lost. I'd rather pay for insured shipping myself and have a little piece of mind.

What information did AMD request or what tests or confirmations were made before authorizing the RMA?

After return do they plan to test it and did they offer a replacement option?

When I filled out the warranty request form on their site I had to explain the issues I was having and the steps I took to troubleshoot. And I also had to upload a copy of the sales receipt and pictures of the processor. As far as I'm aware once they receive the cpu it will be tested. So far there has been no mention of replacement options, at least not in the two emails I received, but I am assuming once the cpu is proved to be faulty they will replace it with a new 5950X. At least that better be what happens, I won't accept a refurb or chip of lesser value.

I have not had any conversations or emails back and forth with anyone from AMD. I only filled out the forms and info that they request on the warranty claims site. On that website I had to enter the cpu model and serial number, there was a drop down menu with about a half dozen assorted choices for the symptoms experienced. Then there is an empty box where you can type in all relevant info, troubleshooting steps, error codes etc. I explained that I was having frequent system crashes and freezing with no bsod's to use for troubleshooting. I told them I tested with OCCT, did an OS reinstall, and swapped out components such as psu, gpu, etc. And said I put the faulty 5950x in a known working system and the same issues began in the working system. I was actually quite surprised at how simple the process was, I was dreading having to talk to someone on the phone and try to explain everything to them. Especially if english isn't their first language or they have a very strong accent and are difficult to understand. But there was none of that, it took me about 15 minutes to fill out the info and submit for review.

Update - today I received an automated email from AMD stating that my replacement CPU has been shipped and Fedex is showing delivery should be on Friday Dec. 29.

They received my faulty CPU on Dec. 21 and considering the holidays I am quite impressed with how quickly they managed to test
it, prove it was nfg and send me a replacement.

I will update here again when I have the system back up and running with the new cpu.

Thank you for the update. I don't suppose they told you what they found wrong with it? You'd be the first to get such information from what I've seen. Please do let us know how it goes with the new CPU. Good luck!

Nope, they didn't provide me with any other info. The email only contained a tracking number and even the warranty services website shows no info in regards to their testing or what they found.
