I don't think that this is a disk surface problem per-se (as I mentioned). That's because this isn't a disk error, it's a power transition problem, and that's a disk controller problem. I don't think any disk testing software can check that?

Have you set the disk power-down time in your power option to zero? That keeps drives powered on and stops them entering a lower power state at all.

I have not yet set the disk power-down time in the power options to zero. I was waiting to see if the problem was fixed with the previous methods.

But the system bluescreened two days ago with the same error. So now I want to try the sleep setting. Is this the setting you are talking about? Should I set it to 0?

    Yes. Set that to 0.

So far the bluescreen issue has not returned. So no more driver state power failure because of the disk. This solves the problem described in my initial post, so thanks for that!

Sadly I am experiencing another issue, which I mentioned briefly in post #5 which I assumed was related to the bluescreen problem, but it seems not. Although much more rarely, sometimes (like today) the computer will just power down completely with no warning beforehand. No freezing, no bugcheck code, no bluescreen. Just power out immediately.

Is there a way to find out why this is happening? Because the power just goes out, eventlog cannot write anything...

Please open a new thread in the performance or general forum rooms (Eleven Forum) > post a V2 share link into the new thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive.

And comment on the PSU (whether there is a swap test available).
