I had just looked up another one that is similar before you posted. I have compared them yet because my system is responding so poorly.

My goodness my system is soooo much slower with 6 gb. just opening a page on new egg and this thread was painfully slow.
I'm going to go through my startup and remove some apps.
Thanks for the recommendations. Again I appreciate the help.
I read a thread on the EVGAGeForce GT 730 2GB DDR3 PCIe Video Card that the fan was pretty loud. Hopefully the 740 isn't as loud.
I rebooted and everything was much faster. something sucking memory. ;-)
You may want to check prices at Amazon also. They have much better customer service, as long as it is sold by and shipped by Amazon. Newegg is slow loading for me too. As far as the loud fan, loud is a pretty arbitrary term and also depends on the fan curve settings.
I'm looking at this one EVGA GeForce GT 740 Superclocked 4GB PCI-Express Video Card 04G-P4-3748-KR - Micro Center
because 1) it has dual link dvi connections 2) about the same price as Amazon 3) I can get it at Micro Center today
I don't need 4 GB but they have it.
It looks like it. I'll let you know how it goes. And so far no BSOD
Well I purchase the EVGA GeForce GT 740 Superclocked 4GB PCI-Express Video Card 04G-P4-3748-KR - Micro Center and installed it and I'm running with a GPU temp of 28C at idle. Big difference. And it's fairly quite, even with the case still open.
I have a question. When I formatted my 8 GB usb stick I wanted to reclaim it and it's now it's only 49MB. I did some searching and found this link Reclaim disk space after imaging with imageUSB. But before I go down that path I thought I'd ask if you have some thing up your sleeve.
I read the article. I have written images to USB Flash drives hundreds of times and never had that happen. I just right click the drive and select format. That should be all you need to do. Just check the 'Restore Device Defaults' button and format it. I've just never had that problem other than the few times a USB drive just 'dies'.
Great news about your card. I'm sure you are happy about the new card and your computer running better. Are you having any problems with the computer now?
