BSOD and/or system file corruption messages on boot and whilst using

Windows 22H2 Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045

When I boot my pc for the first time, one of few messages will show, either 'Winload.efi is missing or contains errors' , 'ntoskrnl.exe is missing or contains errors', or 'some random .sys driver contains errors'. But then I hit esc to go into my BIOS, and I change literally nothing in it and press save and exit, in which it does and then it boots into windows. Then either my PC seems to work completely fine, or it will bluescreen after a few minutes once again with different error codes, I remember WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR showing up a few times but it genuinely seems random, and sometimes it doesn't even show a code.

I forgot to add: I tried fixing this by completely reinstalling windows through the ssd and it wasn't working, so eventually I figured out a way, using rufus to get a completely fresh windows 10 iso on my usb, then completely wiping both drives and reinstalling windows onto my ssd, that worked completely fine but this fresh install of windows changed nothing, still the exact same issues.

There are no dumps and no indication in the logs that it's been having BSODs, that is a strong indication of a hardware cause. I don't see anything in the logs that points to any particular hardware device, but given the symptoms you describe the two most likely devices are your RAM and the NVMe SSD.

The best way to check your NVMe SSD is to download the Intel Memory and Storage Tool and run full diagnostics on that drive. Also display the SMART data for the drive and post a screenshot here. From your symptoms I think the NVMe drive is the most likely suspect.

To test your RAM download Memtest86 (free), use the imageUSB.exe tool extracted from the download to make a bootable USB drive (1GB is plenty large enough) and then boot that USB drive. Memtest896 will start running as soon as it boots, if no errors are found after the 4 iterations that the free version does, restart Memtest86 and do another 4 iterations.

Please perform the following steps after the above hardware tests:

Learn the methods to recover from using the tool by booting into safe mode and running one or more of these commands:

verifier / reset

verifier /bootmode resetonbootfail


Start the testing with these settings:
a) test all non Microsoft drivers
b) test no Microsoft drivers
c) start with the 3 customized tests in the Ten Forums link

I upgraded to Windows 11 so I don't know if I should keep this here but here are the links to the results of what was asked for, the driver verifier and ram test I will do overnight because they take longer and I haven't had time to leave them running yet. Just replaced the ssd in my computer, its still showing up the error messages on boot like ‘the header checksum for this file doesnt match the computed checksum’ etc, I believe it might be my motherboard

0xc0000221 often indicates problems with drive, RAM or file.

See if the drive can be tested in another computers empty bay, or drive enclosure, etc.


The installed RAM modules {(3200 C16 Series) (Patriot Memory) (PDP Systems)} were not seen on the Qualified Vendor List (QVL).

Please test computer stability / instability with RAM modules on the QVL.
