How long have you ran memtest? How many passes?

A wild guess about the error, either a driver has referenced wrong memory or the memory (RAM or the hard drive) are damaged.

I ran it for 4(I see now that you recommend 8, I can do that tonight).
I'm curious why disabling windows defender would eliminate the issue though. I would think a driver or hardware problem would come up in other ways as well.

It would be possible that some driver is interfering with it, but there are so many drivers that could do that.
Yet, there are more methods that could cause it that are in the background.
