Frequent BSOD and restart when playing WoW over last 2 weeks

Hi all,

In the last two weeks I've been experiencing frequent BSOD only when playing World of Warcraft. I have not tested on other games yet. This week it has been especially bad. This seems to occur particularly when logging in to a populated area, or entering into a raid group.

Windows Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.2486)

I experience BSOD and then a quick flash of a QR code before my computer restarts. I have had a look at the Event Log and there are a couple of things going on, however I've limited understanding of such things.

You have to read and compare if your errors could be similar.

No worries, I will take a look at the article. I've also attached the zip file.

In the article they are using values 60 on those.

I think you should be more modest...try 20.

SFC /SCANNOW in CMD(adm)

Memory (RAM) Diagnostic Tool

Windows includes a Memory (RAM) Diagnostic Tool that performs a scan of your computer's physical memory and helps identify possible errors. Using this tool requires a reboot. Be sure to save any open documents.

Press Windows + R keys
In the Run windows, type mdsched.exe and press Enter
Click Restart now and check for problems (recommended)
Note: Write down steps 4-8 before proceeding. Your computer will restart and you cannot use your mouse in the Memory Diagnostic Tool.
Your computer will reboot into the Memory Diagnostic Tool and run a basic memory test.

Press F1 to stop the basic test and go into the Options screen
Use the down arrow to select Extended
Press F10 (..it will probably take 30-40min.)
Once the Memory Diagnostic Tool completes, make note of any errors reported
Hit Esc to exit the tool and boot into WindowsAttachment 383754

your video drivers are having issues or your video card is. possibly memory. not bad memory, but your unknown maker of ram is only running at 2666 (1333 double data rate), and it might just not like that. Ryzens run best with 3200 (1600 double data rate) ram.

NTN, I've completed the steps you posted and will be testing this evening. The Memory (RAM) Diagnostic Tool hung at 21% so I was not able to complete it. Do you know what to do when this happens?

Okay, so I was able to get the Memory (RAM) Diagnostic Tool to work, and everything came up fine. I jumped into WoW last night and ran into the same issue again after playing for about 5 minutes.

I checked my RAM details for the two 8gb sticks I have. Brand is Gigabyte Auros. Speed capability is 3733MHz. So I find it pretty weird that my ram speed is 2666MHz. Why would this be the case? Is it something I have to adjust manually (ignore how green I am at this stuff), but is that what overclocking is?

It's doing my head in because my partner and I have the exact same build and he's never run into any issues.

when you boot the computer, go into the bios. Look for the memory section. Look for something that says xmp or has some numbers like 1333,1600,1800, etc. You want yours at 1600. Remember, DDR is Double Data Rate so 1600 = 3200. 1333 = 2666 (what yours is currently set to)

Overclocking ram would be running your 3733 spec'd ram at 4000 :)

So, interestingly, after doing everything suggested in this thread so far, I didn't encounter any issues in 2 days of regular WoW play.

However just this evening, another BSOD. I had a quick look in the event viewer, and noticed these two IDs:

event 125 is just informational. looks like sensor data or something, enumerating is just pulling values from somewhere.

10016, i think we all get some flavor of the dcom errors.
