BSOD loop when installing Intel Chipset Drivers, also can't update BIOS

    Hello,

I recently decided to upgrade my CPU and that involved upgrading nearly all the rest of my system except GPU, PSU, and hard drives. I went from a 9700k to 12700k and when I try to install the Intel chipset drivers from the included Asus manufacturer disc, I BSOD with a KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE stop code and after restarting, I crash with the same BSOD shortly after logging in to the desktop. I found the only way to boot outside of safe mode is to attempt to reinstall the driver the same way within safe mode, but when doing this, the progress bar stops at 2% and immediately restarts and I'm able to get to my desktop normally, but it does not say the Intel chipset drivers are installed when I run the manufacturer driver/utility installation disc. I've tried downloading them from the Asus website as well as Intel's website, but both ways give me errors when I run their setup exe's.

I've downloaded and run the Intel chipset drivers from here, yet in the Asus manufacturer's driver/utility installer, it still says "Not Installed" next to Intel Chipset Driver.

As for the BIOS, I also downloaded the latest version from ASUS's website and when trying to use EZFlash to update it, it says that the file is not a proper BIOS. When trying to resolve this, I made sure all my Windows Updates were complete, including optional ones, as I read someone else with this error was able to resolve it by installing optional Windows Updates, but this did not work for me.

My Windows version is 21H2 (OS Build 19044. 1865)

Have you looked under add remove programs to see if there is a chipset installed? keep in mind if you changed mother boards you need to uninstalled the old chipset befor installing a new one.

also it is a bad practice to update a bios using windows too program a motherboard chip. use asus website get your bios and the bnamer.exe and put both in same folder alone together and run bnamer. then grab the renamed bios and put on a usb stick by itself with nothing else on it and program the bios from within the bios itself. using an os to program a chip has always been a high risk factor.

I did not know to look under Add/Remove Programs for that, when I get home today I'll check it out. I do believe I have them installed and it's just the Asus utility not recognizing them which is what's causing the BSOD loop when it tries to install its own drivers which modifies the good ones.

As for the BIOS, I did download the ones from the Asus website and put them on a USB and used the renamer and used EZFlash in the BIOS to update which is when it gave me the error, sorry if that wasn't clear.

sounds good i hope this helps. also as a reminder you should always set the bios too default settings which is a pain to resetup but is the correct way before flashing the firmware bios chip if not it could corrupt the new bios. if it is corrupted you can flash back with asus boards. then clear cmos and flash with the new one (recommend new fresh downloaded one) hope this helps.
