Startup Loop - screen turns on & off
Hello, I'm after some help please, I've searched online and can't see where anyone else has the same issue.
[firstly I don't know if this is the correct category, so please excuse if this needs changing]
A bit of background, I have a desktop PC with Win10 installed and have two 500GB internal SSDs installed (main SSD drive was only 80GB).
Everything was going great, I have 8GB RAM and a Nvidia GTX1080 8GB graphics card.
On the weekend I decided to change things up slightly by installing Windows on one of the extra SSDs, so essentially a separate 'new' computer which I could boot from if I so wished.
This worked fine
However, when I now boot from the original drive, the display blinks on and off every 2-5 seconds. On for 3 seconds, off for 3 seconds, on for 3 seconds (approx.) et cetera. Not always 3 secs but always blinking. Not flickering, but turning on and off and on
The PC enters the welcome screen and as there was no password/PIN set, it has the dots going round in circles, blinks on and of and on and finally gets to the desktop screen. Still blinking on and off
Then after 30 seconds to a minute (haven't timed it), it goes back to the welcome screen, Dots spin around/screen blinking, then the desktop is displayed again, blinks on and off and then back to the welcome screen. There isn't an end to this.
I've tried removing the graphics card and starting up off an old screen using a VGA cable. Same thing
Also tried a second screen on DisplayPort/HDMI and no change
Also the mouse can't seem to click
To restart/shut down, I do Alt+F4 and arrow up/down and enter.
Apologies I can't run a log as requested
Its like something is missing or a driver is out of date (yep checked for Windows updates)
I can press the windows button on the keyboard and type, I can get into about anything, but time is limited
Doesn't seem to be a hardware issue, I can boot up fine off the other drive. I can also go into the problem disk C drive if that helps (i.e. if any files are missing or to add a driver to install, potentially)
I'd really appreciate any suggestions from this community.
PS sorry for the long-winded post!
Thanks
