Help with bsod ryzen 5 3600 gtx 1070

    Hello,

I've been trying to help a friend resolve his bsod problems.

So far we haven't made any real progress.

    His specs are

    Ryzen 5 3600
    Gtx1070
    32gb ddr4 3200
    Windows 10 ver 21H2 build 19044.1415

I think it may be the ram. We ran memtest the first time and it came back with errors. Updated the bios and ran a second time and only had test 13 errors. According to memtest documentation if it only shows test 13 errors it should be fine. Just want to confirm with yall before i file a rma with the manufacture.

Hello @mikedingus and welcome to the forums.

Even 1 error is a failure. But, you need to determine if it is the ram is bad or if the Dimm slots on the motherboard are bad. You can do that by running each stick of ram in every Dimm slot. A good stick of ram should run without errors no matter which slot it's in. The same with a bad stick of ram, it should show errors no matter the slot.

I was getting my information from this post. But I will test the ram on a known good board and see where that leads.

That's contrary to everything I have experienced in a lot of years of doing this. I guess you will need to make your own decisions on that. If you wish to pursue other areas, maybe @zbook can help.

I understand about the source of your info. I've just never experienced anything like that. You can test the sticks one at a time in each dimm slot on that board to tell if it is the ram or dimm slots. Most major brands of memory have a lifetime warranty and can be replaced for only postage.

The logs displayed 5 collected BSOD dump files.

    The bugchecks were:

    1A
    3B
    C2

There were no misbehaving drivers seen in the debugging.

The Windows 10 21H2 operating system was installed on 12/11.

There were approximately 12 unexpected shutdowns and restarts in 9 days.

The recent windows installation, multiple unexpected shutdowns and restarts, BSOD, and Memtest86 results are all consistent with an underlying hardware problem.

There are cases in which memtest86 results may report errors with only test #13 that could be false positives.
(philc43 may have had a thread with this finding)

However in this thread there is much more than a Memtest86 finding.

Problems with RAM, DIMM, and motherboard must be ruled in / ruled out.

The computer has 32 GB RAM (four 8 GB RAM modules).
    Motherboard: B550-A PRO (MS-7C56)

I'd follow the steps as outlined by essenbe.

Memtest86 has a feature to produce text reports.
For all tests please post images with text reports.
