You should have used the does tool (image 1).Well, it doesn't matter now....as per suggestions, I tried to update the BIOS with the latest bios for this machine from gateway's website as there was a newer one on the site than the one that was installed on my machine.... I used the windows bios flash tool and watched it go and it seemed to erase, copy, and verify correctly, but now on restart it freezes at the boot logo and doesn't go anywhere, so I feel like the BIOS update bricked it...very frustrated.....
I should have just put Linux on it and left Windows alone, but it's too late now... I tried resetting the BIOS with the CMOS jumper on the motherboard and it does the same thing, so pretty sure it's screwed...
I've looked and looked and I can't seem to find anything about there being a bios recovery mode for this particular machine, so if any of you managed to find something I would be very grateful. It is a gateway zx6961 all in one. Acer owns gateway, so I've searched for Acer BIOS recovery as well but can't seem to find anything. :/
The readme states the driver is XP, Vista, 7, and PE, but you are on windows 10. (image 2)
I would not have tried the windows tool myself.
I've used Win7 BIOS flash tools on Win10 many times in the past with no ill effects, so I'm surprised it failed this time...
Like I said, the tool opened ran and claimed it flashed and verified correctly...there were no errors, so I had no way of knowing it hadn't gone through :/
Have your tried the clear cmos jumper on the board?
