    Laptop Freezes

Hi. I have an Acer Nitro 5 Spin model NP515-51-80XS. W10 ver 21H1 (OS build 19043.1237). My laptop randomly freezes when not in use. For instance, I will close the lid to put the laptop into sleep mode. I can see that it is in sleep mode by looking at the power indicator light. When I come back some time later, the screen will be dark (not lit), the power indicator light will be on (not sleeping), the keyboard light will respond but the rest of the computer wont. The only way I can get the laptop to respond is to hold the power button for about 5 seconds so it turns off completely, wait and then press the power button again to turn it on.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to when it freezes. It doesn't freeze when I'm using it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Anyways, onboard video driver needs updating.

Cant check for a bios update, you list the model as Acer Nitro 5 Spin model NP515-51-80XS, however when i look into it, the model numbers according to Acer are SP111-31, SP314-21, etc. All start with SP, not NP and none matching the rest of the sequence. Your bios is dated January 8th 2019
--attempted to locate here: Download Acer Support Drivers and Manuals

You should check your chipset drivers also once you locate it on the acer website.

Please verify your power plan (and make any changes needed) to make sure sleep is enabled and all.

Thanks Tomdsr. I made those changes and will monitor my laptop's performance. The BIOS was current. The model # I provided is correct. I double-checked.

    Thanks again.

    What is the warranty status?

The logs displayed unexpected shutdowns and restarts.

There was a BSOD that did not create a dump file.

Were there some manual power offs after freezing too?

    1) Turn off Windows fast startup:
Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 10

    2) Run:

Tuneup_plus_log.bat Click here to go to the BSOD batch repository to download and run this batch file.

    3) Monitor the computer using the reliability monitor:

    Hi zbook

My warranty period has elapsed. What does the bat file do? Yes there are forced power offs. Sometimes the laptop freezes- the power is on but the computer doesn’t respond other then the keyboard lights. I have to do a forced shut down to get it back going again. Thanks. Dave

Please click the link as there is an explanation of the script.

    It was designed to check:
    operating system
    component store
    drive file system
    BSOD crash settings
    etc.

    Hi Zbook

    1. My hibernation status is 'Never' so from what I have read that quick start-up feature should be disabled.

    2. I have run the batch file and its output is below. Thank you.

    Code:
There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete.

Please reboot then run sfc /scannow > post an image of the command with results

If there are any BSOD or unexpected shutdowns or restarts run the V2 log collector and upload results into this thread.
