Can update beyond 1909. BSOD Memory Management

    HELLO!

I am having a BSOD issue when updating my OS. I have tried using Windows update and Update Assistant. Either way it installs and as soon as it tries to restart and posts it goes to BSOD with stop code: Memory Management. I ran Windows Memory Diagnostics and it immediately showed that I had hardware issues. I also ran memtest86 and showed consistent failures at one address. I tried the tests one stick of ram at a time and found the bad one and left it out. I figured that I'd found the problem and attempted to update again and had the EXACT same problem.

    I've also tried.....

    SFC CHECK-Comes back fine
    Updating graphics card drivers
    Flashed bios to latest firmware
Installed the latest ASUS chipset update
Reverted my memory back to 2133mhz instead of it's rated 3200

    Nothing has worked. I'm stumped

Here's what Windows update says after a failed try:
Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2
    Failed to install on ‎9/‎27/‎2021 - 0x800704c7

Since posting.... just to try... I swapped graphics cards to an old one I have laying around and it did the exact same thing.

    Computer Type: PC/Desktop
    System Manufacturer/Model Number: Custom
    OS: Windows 10
    CPU: Ryzen 7 3800X
Motherboard: Asus Tuf Gaming X570-Plus (Wifi)
Memory: 32GB Corsair Vengeance PRO (2x16GB)
Graphics Card: EVGA GTX 1070 FTW

Just to check- are you now still experiencing BSODs - or ONLY Windows update failure?

Basic ideas for that error number:
Fix: Windows Update Error 0x800704c7 on Windows 10 - Appuals.com

And you can try the MS update assistant

    I ended up with a fresh install...ERG

I tried updating via flash drive and ended up in an endless boot loop. I tried repairing with boot media and had no luck. Oh well now to download all of my programs.

    Thank you for your reply.

If you use disk imaging regularly and routinely, as is very often recommended here, you may avoid doing that in some situations, and protect your build, your data and your time by giving yourself a second chance- even if your system disk- or any imaged disk- fails. e.g. Macrium Reflect (free/paid) + large enough external storage for image files.
