Constant BSOD on Dell

Hi all,

I am just stumped. I have two Inspiron 5675s. Both identical specs. My main that I've had since new runs windows & linux flawlessly.
The second one I acquired from my old boss who bought his at the same time.

Under linux it runs perfectly. Under Windows as soon as start installing drivers it becomes a nonstop BSOD. I have swapped ram, storage, CPUs, GPUs, and still it happens. I would think motherboard, but works perfectly fine for days under linux.

Am I just overlooking the motherboard since linux has no issues with it? I have cleaned it thoroughly.

Any thoughts what could be causing this?

From your description, I would suspect a corrupted Windows install. If you haven't done a clean Win install I would start with that.

The computer came with no drives so its brand new ssds and a fresh USB installer. I think but at the same time don't think its Windows. Unless some Windows 11 code made it into the latest windows 10 build and is causing issues with it being first gen Ryzen.... Which is unlikely.

Doing some more digging now on it. Now it runs fine but wont shutdown or reboot without a hard shutdown. May be the motherboard at this point.

If you haven't done it, replace the CR2032 coin cell (CMOS Memory) battery. We find that cures some flakey problems, on the Dell support forums.

Power off, unplug the AC power cord, push the power switch for 10 seconds or so to drain any residual power. Open the case and remove the 2032 battery on the motherboard. Wait at least 5 minutes then install the new battery.
