    ACPI.sys DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION Blue Screens?

    Greetings,

I bought a prebuilt several months ago. I noticed it was having some weird stutters, and I saw that on LatencyMon, I would get very consistent 1.7ms spikes from ACPI.sys. After a lot of trial and error, I was able to remove the stutters by setting minimum processor speed to 99% and setting the hard disk to never turn off. The DPC latency remained, but there didn't seem to be any problems.

Now, for the past month or so, I've been getting BSODs, usually while playing games. The PC would lock up and make a loud "BRBRBRBR" noise from the speakers for about a minute, before giving me a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSOD. Curiously enough, when it would reboot on its own, Realtek would be missing (which means my speakers would no longer work). Trying to reinstall the Realtek drivers would result in nothing actually being installed, without any kind of error message. However, power cycling the computer would restore the drivers. I eventually got the crashes to subside, though I'm not sure how, I believe I turned off downloading updates from other PCs and tips and tricks in Windows Notifications, and I also turned off power saving options for the PCI Express Link State Power Management. I thought that would be the end of it, but now it's crashing again.

I'm not sure what else to try. I've updated all my drivers and ran all the checks and stress tests I could find. I also tried resetting Windows. It's difficult to actually reproduce a crash. At first it only seemed to happen in certain games (Minecraft, 7 Days to Die), but now it seems to be happening in any game. It also seems like a crash is more likely to happen the longer the computer is on; the past two times have been when my PC was on for 12 hours or more.

Windows Version: 20H2 (OS Build 19042.1165)
Minidump Link: 091321-5984-01.zip - Google Drive
    V2 Link: DESKTOP-UOGRKG7-(2021-09-13_20-40-28).zip - Google Drive

Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, thanks for replying. I've only had my PC set up for minidumps, so I'll have to wait for another crash to generate a complete MEMORY.DMP. Since the crashes seem to be random, it might take me a day or two to get one. I'll post here again with a link once it happens.

Well, I clean installed my Nvidia graphics and everything was looking great for a whle, but I just got a crash playing Terraria. There wasn't a blue screen, it just locked up for a few minutes and then rebooted. Realtek is missing, and like before, will likely be back on my computer once I do a power cycle.

I did get a full MEMORY.DMP file, but it's nearly 16GB and when I try to zip it or open it in Windbg, it says access denied. I'm the only user on the system, and of course, an admin. I can't even fit it on my Google Drive. I don't think it should have been using all of my RAM to run Terraria, so does that mean there was a memory leak somewhere?

Edit: I found an event in Event Viewer that might mean something: "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000133 (0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000001e00, 0xfffff80449cfa320, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 425279b2-05de-4ecd-84c5-3bca6dbbb0f1."

Edit 2: Even though something is wrong with the full MEMORY.DMP, it looks like it did manage to save a minidump file, here it is if it might help: 092921-6296-01.zip - Google Drive

I realized that the memory dump was probably so large because I changed it to do a full memory dump, as instructed. I had to use 7zip to put it on Google Drive since the regular zip wasn't working, so I hope that's alright: MEMORY.7z - Google Drive

Hello, everyone. I've had a couple crashes since the last time I posted. The most recent one just happened, while I was playing South Park, The Stick of Truth for a little while, and I tried to open the Steam overlay (though it was not the first time I had opened the Steam overlay that session).

Here's the first V2 file, taken directly after the crash, when Realtek was absent: DESKTOP-UOGRKG7-(2021-10-11_01-07-24).zip - Google Drive

And here's the second V2 file, taken after doing a power cycle, when Realtek was automatically reinstalled by Windows: DESKTOP-UOGRKG7-(2021-10-11_01-10-28).zip - Google Drive

Any help you all could provide would be great appreciated!
