BSOD loop, unable to access winRE or desktop

    Hello everyone!

    Pc specs:

    Asus prime x570 pro
    Amd ryzen 7 5800x
    One M.2 ssd
    2 normal ssd's
    750 sf platinum psu
    GTX 1080 graphics card

My newly built pc (except for GPU) just shut itself off without warning today whilst I was just surfing the web. It reebooted automaticly but after boot I was just greeted with the BSOD where it said that my pc had run into a problem and needed to repair and restart. It did so automaticly again but the automatic repair was interupted by another BSOD. From here it just continued looping like that.

I am able to get into the bios. I've tried different methods to get into WinRE, but it simply does not open and just keeps giving me the BSOD loop everytime. I have also tried booting from a USB stick to try and force the WinRE. Once when I did that it just gave me a blue colored screen with no text on it. If I then clicked on anything on my keyboard the boot logo would would show and flicker between that and the blue colored screen. I also tested the USB stick on another PC, and it worked to get to Windows setup there.

These are the error codes, I get a different one everytime the pc restarts:

    KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE

    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

    CONFIG_INITIALIZATION_FAILED

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    PHASE1_INITALIZATION_FAILED

    REFERENCE_BY_POINTER

Could this be my motherboard thats somehow causing this? The ssd's all show up in bios, as well as the RAM, cpu and gpu.
Since I cant reach WinRe or (obv.) the desktop, I am quite unsure what to do at this stage...

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi LudwigS,

It can be a few things causing those crashes, e.g. the CPU, motherboard or RAM. If there is something wrong when any of them are used, all kinds of problems can occur.

My suggestion here to narrow down the cause to the root, also considering your situation, is to stripdown your hardware to the bare minimum. Use only that which you absolutely need for just booting and nothing else. That means no mouse, no peripheral (maybe keep keyboard connected), one memory module, no GPU (Windows provides a default GPU driver), etc.

Hi Axe0, thanks for your reply. I will try stripping my hardware. But I wont be able to take cpu out obv. Let's say nothing changes, how can I then know if its a cpu problem or a motherboard problem? Can I utalize anything on UEFI BIOS utility sceen?

    Update;

I stripped my hardware to only motherboard, cpu, m.2 ssd, one ram stick and connected hdmi cable directly to the motherboard.
Black screen, after a few min pc turned off.
From what I know AMD cpu's doesnt have any intigrated graphics? So that would explain why nothing was shown on screen.

If the bare minimum doesn't help, then there's still one memory stick left that can be used in multiple slots. After that then it's a question of CPU or motherboard.

AMD CPUs can have integrated GPUs, they're known as APUs. Yours isn't after checking the specs so you'll need to use the GPU.
